The South Huron team has now rolled up an enviable record of winning 48 straight dual wrestling matches without a loss since December of 1968. Parents and the general public are more than welcome at Friday's tournament. A nominal admission fee of 25 cents will be charged for the afternoon preliminaries with 50 cents the charge for the finals expected to start shortly after seven o'clock in the evening. Good Animal Park A communique which reached our desk this week tells all about the numerous species of wild animals now residents at the Ontario Zoological park at Wasaga Beach. We know this isn't the best time of year to vist a zoo or a wildlife area but Wasaga Beach is one which can be kept in mind for a trip during holiday time next summer. Some of the information contained in the release which came from the Upper Canada Zoological Society, a non- profit institution for the advancement of the zoological sciences and the preservation of wildlife is interesting. Continous expansion of human activities into wilderness areas causes degradation of the habitat of animals. Some species can readily adapt to these changes while others cannot and perish. Their numbers diminished, certain species face extinction. Zoological parks are at times the only "demilitarized zones" providing breeding areas and groups to save them from disappearing off the face of the earth. In the Ontario Zoological Park there are eight of the those species listed as in danger of extinction according to the Red Book, published by the Survival Services Commis- sion of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources. Making up the eight fairly rare species at the Wasaga Beach park are Rothschild's Starlings, turquoise grass parakeets, white throated wallaby, Aleutian Canada geese, Gough-Island Gallinule, Siberian tigers, Sumatran tigers, African cheetah and Alpine Ibex. Good Tourney Sports fans in the area with some leisure time in the upcoming Christmas holidays could do worse than planning on taking in some of the exciting hockey action at the Exeter arena. The third annual Exeter mite hockey tournament is scheduled for the arena on December 26 and 27, Ron Horn, Tony Matucci and company are working hard to bring 16 teams of seven and eight year olds to town to compete in 'A' and `13' groupings. Outstanding Feat For a few columns several months ago we devoted a paragraph or two to outstanding individual achievements in the sports field locally. For awhile we couldn't find anyone with any distinguishing accomplishments, but this changed this week. We would like to congratulate Noel Veri on winning her first game in the Exeter Legion mixed dart league after nearly three years of trying. If you are interested in how we found out, Noel. A birdie flew in to tell us, a rather big birdie. TA Quiz Rec loop lead down to one point The lead of the senior Hawks in the Exeter and district Rec hockey league was cut to a single point Thursday night at the Exeter arena. Another draw for the Waxers The Exeter Waxers came up with their second consecutive tie game in exhibition mite hockey action this week. Friday night at the Exeter arena, the Exeter club and Goderich battled to a 1-1 draw. Scott Newby scored early in the third period to give the Waxers a draw and bring their season record to b win, a loss and two draws in four starts. Answers to last week's questions — The questions posed last week should have referred to Stanley Cup playoffs rather than regular season play. Toe Blake, Maurice Richard and Bert Olmstead each picked up five assists while playing for, the Montreal Canadiens while Don McKenney turned the trick while a member of the Boston Bruins. The record for the most assists in one game in regular season play is seven and is held by Billy "The Kid" Taylor. Eddie Bush scored one goal and picked up four assists while playing for the Detroit Red Wings against the Toronto Maple Leafs on April 9, 1942 in Stanley Cup play. Detroit won the game 5-2. Questions? — Two members of the Minnesota North Stars scored goals in nine seconds from the start of a period in games played in 1968. Who were they?
