On Friday at 8:40 a.m„ cars driven by Brian Sanders, Exeter, and Suzanne Brooks, London, collided on Highway 4 at the junction of the Kirkton road. Total damage was listed at $1,000 by Constable Bill Lewis. An Exeter driver, Larry Whiting, sustained minor cuts when the car he was driving crashed into a hydro pole on Sunday at 10:45 a,m, He had been proceeding east on sideroad 15-16 in Usborne Township when his 1972 model car slid across the road and into the pole, Damage was set at $1,700 by Constable Al Quinn. The other accident was a hit and run. A parked car owned by George Dakin, Woodstock, was • struck on the parking lot at the men's residence at Centralia College. Damage was estimated at $150 by Constable Bill Lewis. During the week, the local detachment officers charged seven persons under the High- way Traffic Act and issued warnings to another 15. There were two charges under the Criminal Code. In his weekly press release, OPP Cpl, Ray Brooks reports area property owners are again being plagued by trespassers who unlawfully drive snowmobiles on private property without per- mission or consent of the owner. "Operators of snow vehicles who continue this unlawful habit will find themselves in court for offences of the Petty Trespass • Act," Cpl, Brooks warned. List money • for winter Municipalities throughout the area were named as recipients for provincial grants to stimulate winter jobs. The announcement was made by Treasurer Charles MacNaughton, Monday. • MI projects, in the words of the Huron MPP, must require a "high labor content". Allotments from the program are based on welfare case loads. While area communities have been eligible for similar grants in previous years, few came up with projects because they required that 'unemployed persons be utilized in the work. Several area communities just didn't have any unemployed persons for these projects. Some indicate they may face the same situation this year if the government decrees that only unemployed persons can be used. Exeter, $2,744; Hensall, $2,000; Zurich, $2,000; Grand Bend, $2,000; Lucan, $2,000; Hay, $2,000; Stephen, $3,117; Tuckersmith, $2,325; Usborne, $2,000; Biddulph, $2,000; McGillivray, $2,925; Bosanquet, $2,700, Huron County received an additional $14,400; Middlesex, $13,350. Ailsa Craig downed Brinsley by a,score of 9-5 while Lieury edged the Shipka Bulldogs 7-6. Each club at the top now has eight points. The Shipka club has three points and Brinsley trails in the basement with a single point. Gwen Griffiths scored four times to pace the Ailsa Craig scoring attack.
