TEMPLEMAN STAFFA Achievement day for the 4-H homemaking club, "Dairy Fare" was held Saturday at Upper Thames Elementary School, Mitchell. Staffa No. 1 under the leadership of Mrs. Bill Butson and Mrs. Spencer Jeffery par- ticipated with an exhibit on "Lets look at Yogurt" with Dianne Miller giving the commentary. Staffa No. 2, under the leadership of Mrs. Charles Douglas and Mrs. John Wallace presented a demonstration, "Three ways to use skim milk powder' with Margaret Laing, Nancy Allen and Gail Harburn participating. Staffa No. 3 under the leadership of Mrs. Ross Balfaur and Mrs. Dalton Smale presented a exhibit on "Dairy Desserts" with Beverley Smale as commen- tator. Darlene Balfour, Staffa No, 3 Nancy Allen and Margaret Laing, Staffa No. 2 received their county honor pins for each com- pleting six 4-H homemaking pro- jects. Personals Karen and Betty Ann Miller competed on a ameteur talent program at Clinton Saturday evening and placed first for their step-dancing. Mr. & Mrs. John Templeman and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. & Mrs. Eldie McNicol and Bob, London. Mr. & Mrs. John Miller and family visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Don Richardson, Avonbank. Mrs. Eaton, Acton, is visiting with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Eaton and family. Mr, & Mrs. J.M, Bissett, St. Thomas, and Mrs. Ella Bailey of Exeter visited Mr. & Mrs. E. Collings on Warwick St. in honor of Ernie's birthday. Mrs. Eleanor Metzler Brennan and Miss Audrey Metzler of 15 Main St., owners of European Art Gallery announce the opening of their new store "Contemporary Gifts" at 477 Central Ave, in London. Six Women's Institute members took part in the study of "Bedroom and Bathroom" furnishing and decorating held Friday at the Dashwood Com- munity Centre, by Miss Carol Bennett of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food in Toronto. Grades of materials in flooring, bedding, wallpaper, and ceramic or plastic tiles were carefully explained and samples were passed around. Plans and color schemes were shown by overhead projector and slides. The Dashwood ladies served coffee and tea for the lunch. By MRS. RENA CALDWELL K I PP EN The 4-H Girls and their mothers were guests of Kippen East WI when they met at the Legion Hall Hensall for the Family and Consumer's Affairs meeting recently, Club I, the "Slicking Cooks" demonstrated the making of a chocolate fondue which was sampled later. Club II, "Kippen Kabobs" put on a skit — "Packing Herman's Lunch." Mrs, Wm Bell presented gifts to the leaders and assistant leaders, Mrs. R. Bell, Mrs. C. Ferris, Mrs. Postma, Lynn Alderdice, Maureen Connolly and Debbie Brodie. Mrs. A, Hoggarth chaired the meeting and gave several humorous readings, "It's all in the state of mind," and "Help my hips are getting wider." Mrs. Glen Bell gave a reading "The Old Violin." Prizes were given to the lady with the most buttons on her dress, Linda Bell; hankie with lace, Mrs. Wm. Bell; picture of yourself, Chris McGregor; safety pin, Cathy Sims; made a jello today, Linda Vanneste; lady with scissors in her purse, Mrs. Vander Velden. Everyone par- ticipated in a very amusing roll • Orpha Club Tuesday, the Orpha Club met at the home 'of Mary Yeo with 20 ladies attending. An array of children's and doll's clothing, handiwork of the ladies, was turned in to be sent to the Christ- mas Shower of Gifts at the Children's Shelter in Sarnia. Mrs. W. MacLaren was acting presi- dent and Mrs. M. A. Burke acting secretary. Mrs. A. Dayman read "A Different Kind of 23rd Psalm" by a heroin addict. The lunch by Mrs. Devine, Mrs. Burke and Miss Yeo was a surprise birthday greeting to Mrs. C.
