Rev. George Anderson,
Chaplain of the Royal Canadian
Legion and. Rector of Trivitt
Memorial Church spoke at the
Remembrance Day Service Sun-
day at the Anglican Church in
Exeter.
In his sermon, Rev. Anderson
likened problems Jesus en-
countered to those encountered
in modern day living and
situations, The text was entitled,
"Will you too go away?"
He said that many of Jesus'
followers were disturbed by
some of his teachings, and that
many drifted away from his
teachings because of them.
"Would Jesus have been wiser on
this occasion to have set this
particular teaching aside and
said something more acceptable
to the people?" asked Rev.
Anderson. He continued:
"Our Lord was noted for his
love, compassion and wisdom, he
never spoke bluntly with the ob-
ject of hurting or offending, but
he always spoke truth, he never
tried to conceal or mislead in
spite of the circumstances.
"We in Canada have just ex-
perienced a general election. As
you know, the state of the parties
is equal, each with 108 members.
Mr. Trudeau is going to have to
face parliament, sooner or later,
and present to that body a policy
that. will be acceptable to the
whole house, On the other hand,
should Mr. Trudeau decide to
step aside and 'to allow Mr. Stan-
field to form a government, then
he would find himself in a similar
position having to try to please
everyone as he presents a
program to Parliament.
"In the darks of 1940, in
England, the British Premier
found himself in such an impossi-
ble position he was forced to
hand in his resignation to the
King. The French had been
defeated and the British army
narrowly escaped being
destroyed at Dunkirk. The new
Prime Minister, the Fit. Hon
Winston S. Churchill, after
having formed his new govern-
ment, rose to address parlia-
ment. Sitting in the House were
all the Conservatives, the Labour
members, the Liberals and other
parties. What could the Prime
Minister say in order to win the
support of such a mixed
gathering? Winston Churchill
made no attempt to get away
from reality, Without mincing
words, he began "I would say to
the House, as I have said to those
who have joined this govern-
ment, I have nothing to offer but
blood, toil , sweat and tears."
The response to this speech
was shown by the courage, deter-
mination and resolve of the
peoples of Britain and the Com-
monwealth, who, in the face of
tremendous, almost impossible
odds, pursued their common
cause and fought for freedom
until final victory was achieved.

from Granton
At the November meeting of
Biddulph township council, a
petition was received from 70
residents of Granton who are
opposed to the installation of a
public water system.
In opposition to this, a letter
was received from two Granton
trustees, requesting that the°
council initiate proceedings to
install such a water system in the
village.
No immediate solution could
be agreed upon,
Council also received a com-
plaint that the Haskett Municipal
Drain is in need of repair. They
appointed engineers A.M, Spriet
and Associaties to report on the
problem,
Council provisionally adopted
the engineer's report on the Scott
Municipal Drain and set the

NIXON — In loving memory of my
dear husband, Harry Nixon who
passed away Nov. 15, 1964,
In a quiet country graveyard,
Close beside a country road,
Peacefully sleeps my husband,
Gone from me to his abode.
The silvery moon is shining o'er his
silent grave,
For the one we loved so dearly,
Was the one they couldn't save,
To your resting place we visit,
And place your flowers with care,
But no one knows the heartache,
When we walk away and leave you
there,
Lovingly remembered by his loving
wife Florence, and family in
England. 46c

CRAWFORD —In loving memory of
a dear mother and grandmother,
Fern Crawford who passed away two
years ago November 16, 1970.
The dearest Mother and Grand-
mother this world could hold
With a beautiful smile and a heart of
gold
To those who knew her all will know
How much we lost two years ago.
Her life was unselfish, for others she
lived,
Not to receive but only to give,
Helpful and willing, so thoughtful and
kind,
Beautiful memories she left behind.
We wish today as we've wished
before,
That God could have pared her
many years more,
Deep in our heart her memory is
kept,
To love and to cherish and never
forget.
Lovingly remembered and very
sadly missed by Basil, Phyllis, Darla
and Dennis, 46p

Fern Ethel, who passed away 2 years
ago, November 16, 1970 and Oswald
who passed away 5 months ago.
May the winds of heaven blow softly
on that quiet and peaceful spot.
Where the parents we loved so dearly
lie sleeping and will never be forgot.
Though their voices and smiles are
gone forever, and their hands we
cannot touch,
We are left with their loving
memories of those we loved so much.
As the angels keep their watch up
there,
Please God, just let them know that
we down here do not forget.
We miss them so..
