Says boost
slightly high
Despite some objection from
arena manager Alvin Willert,
Exeter's RAP committee this
week set an hourly fee of $2.25 for
the supervisor of the arena snack
bar,
Willert said the supervisor was
paid on an average of only $1.00
per hour during some weeks last
year and he thought $2.00 was
enough for this year.
The present supervisor is his
wife,
The raise in pay for the snack
bar staff was considered as RAP
has to meet the minimum wage
of $1.65 for the girls who work in
the booth.
Reeve Derry Boyle suggested
the supervisor should certainly
be paid more and managed to get
backing on his suggestion that it
be $2.25.

0 Why we're asking $3750
for a Volkswagen.
That's a Volkswagen?
That's a Volkswagen.
The 1973 Volkswagen 412, Our luxury family sedan.
With more room and comfort and power and—yes,
more doors (four) than our little Beetle.
But more than just being the most sophisticated Volks-
wagen ever built, our new VW 412 is one of the most
sophisticated motor cars in its class, ever built,
Because it's the only car in the world built with all these
features as standard equipment:
Starting with a fuel-injected engine, the 412 quickly
stands apart from nearly every other car.
For, only a few prestigious European cars have elec-
tronic fuel injection.
Which is an ingenious system that measures precisely
the amount of fuel the engine needs of all times.
And not even Europe's thoroughbreds have the 412's
timed preheating system.
Just turn a knob on the dash and the 412's interior is
warmed up for you in winter. (Without you running the
engine.)
Equally astonishing is the way the 412 rides, With the
quickness of a sports car, And the smoothness of a big car,
You see, each wheel is independently suspended, with pro-
gressive action coil springs and telescoping shock absorbers,
And the rear suspension features something usually
found only in very expensive sports cars; a trailing wishbone
double-jointed rear axle.
Instead of ordinary bias ply tires, the 412 rides on
steel-belted radial tires.
Instead of ordinary bucket seats, you'll ride on re-
clining, form fitting bucket seats.
Instead of ordinary undercoating, the Volkswagen 412
has factory-bonded PVC undercoating.
Of course, if you really want to see how beautifully
the 412 rides, drive the 412.
You'll find the magnesium alloy engine responsive. And
economical. The front-disc brakes very sure.
But one of the best recommendations for the 412 is
that it is a Volkswagen,
Which means it's built with all the quality and all the
precision of a Volkswagen.
And covered by the longest warranty this side of a
Rolls Royce: 24 months 24,000 miles.**
So you see, when we ask more money for a Volkswagen,
it's for a good reason:
We give you more Volkswagen for the money,

ELECTION
Notice is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the
Police Village of Dashwood in the Townships of Hay and
Stephen in the County of Huron that in compliance with the
Municipal Elections Act, 1972, Chapter 95, a Ballot will be
held for the office of
TRUSTEES
Three to be Elected
A Poll will be opened as designated below on
Monday, December 4, 1972
from 11:00 o'clock in the forenoon to 8:00 o'clock in the
afternoon at the following place with the undermentioned
officers in charge:
for failing to report an accident
in which he was involved on
August 6 when he struck a post
and mail box. Damage was $300.
He said he attempted to contact
police the next morning but could
not get an answer.
Stewart Brown, Parkhill, was
fined $40 after pleading guilty to
a charge of creating unnecessary
noise with his vehicle in Mt.
Carmel.
A Zurich man, who was in-
volved in a one-car collision
while driving to his wedding
rehearsal was fined $100 on a
charge of careless driving when
he appeared before Judge Glenn
Hays in Exeter, Tuesday.
Gregory George Willert was
charged on August 18 after his
car left the road on concession 2-
3 of Hay and ended up in a deep
ditch in a field of grain some 165
feet from the road.
Willert said he was travelling Sunshine club
lllllllllllllllllllll IMO lllllllllllllllllllll llllllll lll Oil lllll Minium lllllllllllll lllllll mm1111101111
between 50 and 66 miles per hour
while on his way to the church for
his wedding rehearsal and could
not recall what had happened, He
sustained neck and head injuries
in the crash and damage to his
car was set at $800.
Defence lawyer Dan Murphy,
Goderich noted there were no
witnesses and said the crash
could have been caused by a
number of circumstances;
gravel road, maybe a little
speed, or skidding.
He said any one of the cir-
cumstances could cause the acci-
dent but argued there was not
sufficient evidence for conviction
on a careless driving charge.
Judge Hays, in handing down
the fine, contended a driver
should always be aware of poten-
tial danger under existing cir-
cumstances.
In other cases, the following
fines were levied:
Kenneth R, Kadey, Zurich, was
fined $20 for failing to stop at a
stop sign.
Anthony Ducharme,
Dashwood, was also fined $20 for
failing to stop for a stop sign,
Leon Coolman, Exeter paid $40
