The Lucan-Ildertan Jets came
up with two victories in three
starts this week to even up their
season record at three wins and
the same number of losses.
Friday night on home ice at the
Ilderton arena, the Jets lost a
close 5-4 decision to the Bothwell
Barons. They bounced back to
down the London. Kings 11-7
Saturday night and continued
their winning ways with a 6-3
decision over the Woodstock
Royals Tuesday night.
The Jets now get a real
breather in OHA Senior "B" play
as their next schedule game is
set for Sunday November 26
when the Bothwell Barons will be
back.
To stay in top condition, the
Jets make their annual trip to
Erie Pennsylvania this weekend.
They will be meeting the Erie
Lions in exhibition games Friday
and Saturday nights.
Good Third Period
Three Jet goals in the third
period in Woodstock Tuesday
night assured the victory. Each
team scored a goal in the first
session with the Jets taking a 3-2
lead after 40 minutes of play.
• Bob Boyle was the Woodstock
marksman in the first period
while Bill Fairbairn tipped home
a shot from defencernan Bill
Dunnell to tie the score.
In the middle frame, former
Jet Ron Ryan scored for the
Royals while Dunnell and Fair-

In the first two minutes of play
in the second period, Jacques
Cousineau raced in alone from
centre ice and was able to
backhand a shot into the net.
At 8.34 Steve Proctor com-
pleted a three-way passing play
with Bill Enamel) and Bill Bourne
to put the Jets in front .5-2. With
only four minutes to go, Jamie
Robb completed the L-I scoring
on a power play with the help of
Fairbairn and Dunnell,
Don Jones scored the third goal
for Woodstock with only 48
seconds left in the game, The
Jets outshot the Royals 50-29.
Late Rally Fails
In the 5-4 loss to Bothwell at
the Ilderton arena, Friday night,
the Jets found themselves behind
5-1 at the end of the second period
and appeared to be on the way to
a sure loss.
Playing coach Jack Nairn fired
his club up in the dressing room
and they came out flying. At 1.38
Tom Hodgins gave the Jet fans a
little hope with a successful close
in shot with the assist going to
Terry Bourne.
Shortly after the five minute
mark on a power play, the
Bothwell margin was cut to only
two goals, Defenceman Bill
Dunnell shot the puck in to the
Barons'eet on a play started by
Jack Nairn and Bill Fairbairn.

in the final half of the period
the Jets put on tremendous
pressure and went with six
forwards in the last minute of
play but were unable to get the
equalizer.
The only Jet goal in the first
two periods was notched by Jac-
ques Cousineau with help from
Jamie Robb and Walt Parkinson.
The Jets held a wide edge in
territorial play throughout most
of the game but were foiled on
many good scoring opportunities.
Plenty of goals
The emphasis was on the
offense Saturday night at the
London Gardens as the Jets won
their second game of the season
as compared to three losses.
Goals came thick and fast as
both teams went to the attack
with the Jets moving in front
early in the second period on two
power goals and continuing to
gain an 11-7 victory.
Diminutive Jacques Cousineau
led the Jets scoring attack with a
hat trick performance. Close
behind with two goals each were
Jack Nairn and Dick Doughty.
Completing the heavy scoring
with one goal apiece were Bill
Dunnell, Jamie Robb, Bill
Bourne and Dave Revington.
Tom Glover with three goals
was best for London. Dave
Hyman fired a pair while Mark
Marcera and John Boyd scored
single markers.

for the assist.
In the third period, the Hawks
scored the final goal of the game,
Dave Beer fired his second score
of the night. The assist went to
defencernan and captain Jim
Guenther.
Penalties were fairly equal
with the Hawks taking 10 of the
18 called by referees Richards
and McLeod of Stratford. All
were minors except majors for
fighting early in the game to
Dave Beer of the Hawks and
Peter Thayer of the visitors.

HARDWARE
All our minor hockey teams
are doing well in the new
Shamrock League. The reason I
say the league is new we have
three new teams entered this
year. The new entries are St.
Marys, Belmont and St, Thomas
along with Dorchester, Lambeth,
Lucan, Ilderton, Huron Park and
Exeter.
This will provide a better
brand of hockey and make the
Exeter teams work harder. In
the old Shamrock we were the
only team in 13 category, all the
other teams in the league were
lower, either C, D or E.
I am not trying to say Exeter
was too good for the former
league, on the contrary quite
often we were beaten. But it was
hard for the coaches to get their
players up for a game when
whether we won or lost our team
went on in the Ontario playdown
in "13" category because we
were the only '13' team in the
league.
Sunday our novice team under
coach Steve Murley and manager
Wayne Pearce playing their first

home game of the season
defeated St. Thomas 5-1 in a very
exciting game.
There was a good crowd of
spectators to cheer the boys on.
This Saturday and Sunday at 5:30
each day the novice again will
have a chance to play before the
home town fans as Ilderton is
here on Saturday and Lucan on
Sunday.
The Jr. Hawks have won their
first four starts and are
providing a pleasing brand of
hockey. After losing seven or so
players from last year's cham-
pionship team it is pleasing to
see the many youngsters playing
junior hockey for the first time
doing a very creditable job.
More coaches are needed in
Pee Wee houseleague, games
being played on Saturday after-
noons from 1 to 3 o'clock. If you
would like to lend a hand come to
the arena and contact Bob Rowe
or Randy Preszcator or Gary
Middleton.
Coaches for novice
houseleague are Murray Daw-
son, Jim Pfaff, Bob Osgood and
Jim Bell. On behalf of the novice
boys I would like to thank these
four men for their help.
John Bierling will coach the
pee wee B team and they had
their first practice Saturday. It is
hoped the 'B' team will be able to
play some of the games in
Shamrock against some of the
weaker teams, as our Pee Wee A
team is quite a strong team this
year.
Next pee wee '13' practice will
be Saturday at 6:30.

The Lucan Irish Six held their
lead in the OHA Western junior
"D" league with a win over
Lambeth Wednesday by a score
of 8-4. Their record now is four
wins and a tie in five games.
Rick Funston sparked the Irish
to their latest win with two goals.
Single markers were chalked up
by Bob Evans, Ron Funston, Jeff
Park, Mike McIntyre, Ed Legg
and Craig Corman,
The Irish were never in trouble
and kept digging at all times to
come up with a good game. It
was good to see so many fans out
to the game.
With all those people talking
about the good hockey they saw,
there will probably be more fans
at the next game. The
management, so I am told are
pleased with the response they
had of offers of help.
Lucan mot Strathroy last night,
Strathroy is an unknown team in
this league, but I know our boys
gave a good account of
themselves,
Tonight, the Irish travel to
Tavistock. Sunday, they go to
Strathroy. Both games are at
8,30,
