Ladies' organizations hold
regular monthly meetings
Mr. 4 Mrs, William MacRae
and Donald MacRae, Ottawa,
Mrs. Tom Hurst of IVIonitton and
Mr. & Mrs. William Chapman,
Listowel attended the funeral of
their cousin Albert W, Shirray,
Patsy Parker, London spent
the weekend, holiday with her
parents Mr. & Mrs, Harold
Parker.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kyle,
Hensall, celebrated their 69th.
wedding anniversary at the Blue
Water Rest Home recently, Mr.
Kyle has been a resident at the
home for sometime. Mrs, Kyle,
the former Nancy Kipfer resides
in. Hensall.
They were married at the
Anglican Parish in Hensall
November 6, 1903, Before moving
to Hensall 36 years ago, they
farmed on the Parr Line.
The couple have four sons and
two daughters, Roy, Timmins;
Dave, Hensall; Russel, St.
Catharines; Mrs. Arnold Merner,
Zurich, and Mrs. Clair Tuckey,
London. Another son Hyman pre-
deceased them some months ago. HENSALL

soloist, Mrs. Malcolm Dougall
accompanied at the organ and led
the choir in singing the anthem.
The Sacrament of Baptism will
be administered at the service on

Former area resident
killed in car accident
A former Hensall-Zurich area
resident, Dennis Paul Ducharme,
RR 2, Brussels, passed away
Sunday November 12 when a pick
up truck he was driving collided
with a car about two miles east
of Brussels.

A Remembrance Day Parade
was held at 9 a.m. Sunday mor-
ning in Hensall. with members of
the Hensall Legion, the Legion
Auxiliary, and the 1st Hensall
Brownie Pack taking part, and
being led by the Exeter Pipe
Band. Rev. A. Blackwell gave the
invocation and read scripture.
Wreaths were laid by; province
of Ontario, Mrs. R. Taylor;
Legion Branch 468, Murray Tra-
quair; Legion Auxiliary, Mildred
Chalmers; Kinsmen and
Kinettes, Wayne Reid; village of
Hensall, John Baker, township of
Hay, Joe Hoffman; township of
Tuckersmith, Elgin Thompson;
L.C.B.O., Zurich, Garnet Allen;
Boise Cascade, Ron Mock, 1st
Hensall Brownies, Debbie Reid;
Bank of Montreal, Rick Parker;

Commerce, Bill Bell. After two
minutes of silence the parade
marched to the Hotel where it
dispensed to go to the Lutheran
Church in Zurich for a Remem-
brance Day Service at 10 a.m.
Rev, W.D. Farmis conducted
Remembrance Sunday service in
Carmel Presbyterian church
In his 31st year, he was the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Urban
Ducharme, Grey Township, and
is also survived by 4 brothers and
4 sisters: Oscar, Brussels;
The November meeting of the
Hensall Wornens Institute was
held in the Legion Hall
Wednesday evening with the
theme of "Agriculture and Cana-
l',
di an Industries." Members
answered the roll call "A sunny
side of farm life" and president
Mrs. Beaton welcomed members
and guests. Mrs, Grace Peck
gave a report on the area con-
vention which was held in Lon-
don. Mrs. C, Payne reported on
yr the recent board meeting.
The Program, convened by
Mrs. E. Riley and Mrs. J. Skea
opened with a sing-song led by
Greta. Lammie. The talented
Heywoods, Bob and Danny, Ex-
eter, played and sang several
selections which were greatly
enjoyed by all present. An in-
teresting motto "It takes face
powder to catch a man, and
baking powder to keep him," was
ably presented by Mrs. B. Elgie,
Mrs. C. Pepper entertained with
several piano selections and Mrs.
E. Riley gave a talk on "Farming
— Our Future and Our
Heritage."
Courtesy remarks were given
my Mrs. G. Armstrong and lunch
was served by hostesses Mrs. J.
McAllister and Mrs. M. Orr and
their committee.
WMS Meeting
The WMS of Carmel
Presbyterian Church held their
November meeting Monday
evening at the church, President
Mrs. Rachel Schwalm opened the
UNIT INCLUDES:

colours, "Superb" heater, Northern Ont. rocks.
meeting with a poem "A charge
to keep have I," followed by
prayer. Mrs. Maggie Campbell
and Mrs. Myrtle Orr gave the
devotional using scripture
followed by prayer, A poem on
Remembrance was read and the
study on Africa was given by
Mrs. Campbell.
The roll call was answered by
eleven members, About 24 visits
were reported to have been made
to the sick and shut-ins, The
nominating committee to appoint
officers for 1973 is made up of
Mrs. Edith Bell and Mrs, Mable
Munn. The next meeting will be
held December 4 with a pot luck
lunch and the home helpers are
to be invited.
The Ladies Aid meeting
followed and reported that the
proceeds from the bazaar were
most gratifying.
Legion Ladies Auxiliary
The November meeting of the
Hensall Ladies Legion Auxiliary
was held in the Legion Hall
Tuesday evening, with President
Mildred Chalmers presiding,
Members made plans to attend a
Zone Rally which was held in the
Goderich Legion Hall November
8 to elect a new Zone Com-
mander. It was announced that
the Christmas party for Legion
members and families will be on
December 10 and that the Aux-
iliary members would have an
exchange of gifts at their
December meeting, the same as
last year. Plans were finalized
for the New Years Eve dance
being held at the arena. Sports
Officer Iva Reid gave a report
and announced that a card party
and a bowling tournament will be
held in November.
The mystery prize was won by
Mary Bisback and the guessing
prize by Vera Smale.

Unit 1 UCW
Unit 1 of Hensall United
Church Women met at the church
Thursday afternoon with 11
members present. Mrs. Walter
Spencer presided, and opened the
meeting with readings entitled
"The face of Christ." A very
inspiring devotional written by
Dr. Charles Allen, a Minister
from the south, on the theme
"The Lord is my Shepherd,"
was given by Mrs. Spencer. This
devotional explained verse by
verse this psalm.
Mrs. Robert Cook gave the
study by using the story of
Stanley Stein, a victim of leprosy
in Louisiana, who would not let
his illness kill his spirits and was
an inspiration to all those who
knew him.
Unit II UCW
Monday evening Unit II of the
UCW met at the Hensall United
Church. Mrs. Bill Mickle
presided and opened the meeting
with a reading entitled "For
somebody else," It was an-
nounced that members of Unit II
are in charge of the Christmas
General Meeting to be held
December 4 in the Fellowship
Hall.
Mrs. James Drummond gave
the topic entitled "A Farm wife
takes inventory." Mrs. Ian
McAllister gave the devotional
on "Peace," taken from a
passage from the book "Habita-
tion of Dragons," written by
Keith Miller, concerning peace
within ourselves. Mrs. Ron Mock
presented Unit leader Mrs. Bill
Mickle with a gift, on behalf of
the members for her years work
well done.

Albert W. Shirray, a lifelong
resident of Hay Township on the
Shirray homestead passed away
in Victoria Hospital on
November 10, 1972 in his 70th
year.
He was a commissioner in the
Tuckersmith Telephone,. System,
He is survived by his wife,
Mabel G. Johns, two sons,
Douglas, Hensall and Bruce, Lon-
don, and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held in
the Bonthron Funeral Home on
November 12, 1972 with the
minister of the Hensall United
Church, Rev. Donald Beck of-
ficiating,
Interment was in Baird's
Cemetery. The pallbearers were
close neighbours, Lorne Chap-
man, Donald Munn, Harold
Elder, Kenneth Elder, Ray
Ingram and Alex Munn.
St. Pauls ACW
The annual meeting of the
A,C.W. of St. Pauls Anglican
Church was held at the home of
Mrs. D, Windover, Vice-
president, Mrs. Mary Taylor,
opened the meeting
with devotions from the living
message, and the members
prayer.
The roll call was answered
with a Bible verse with the word
"Joy" in it. Mrs. R. H. Middleton
gave the study "Build up, don't
tear down" and Mrs. D, Win-
dover gave a report on the
Deanery meeting which was held
in Goderich.
Rev. G. A. Anderson presided
for the election of officers for the
coming year. They are as
follows: president, Mrs. G. A.
Anderson; vice-president, Mrs.
D. Windover; secretary, Mrs. F.
Forrest; treasurer, Mrs. R. H.
Middleton; prayer partner
secretary, Mrs. F. Clarke;
auditors, Olive Petty, Mrs. Mary
Taylor, visiting committee, Olive
Petty, Mrs. Annie Reid.
Mrs. R. H. Middleton and Mrs.
F. Forrest were appointed to
look after treats for the shut-ins.
Rev. Anderson closed the
meeting with prayer.
