$265,000.
The addition at Holy Name
School will provide two
classrooms and a kindergarten
room a gymnasium. library-

rooms at an estimated cost of
$305,000, and this includes the
demolition of the 1876 section of
the existing school.

negotiations on November 7.

Couple mark
Huron County may get a sports
complex worth more than a
million dollars at Vanastra, the
former CFB Clinton, it was
learned Wednesday.
The promise came Tuesday
night after Rene Brunelle, On-
tario's minister of community
and social services toured the
base facilities with Vanastra
developers Fred Ginn and John
Van Gastel.
During the summer, the sports
facilities of the former base have
been the interest of numerous
groups from the local, provincial
and federal level. The facilities
include a hockey arena, two
swimming pools, a curling rink, a
huge gym, an outdoor track, foot-
ball fields, baseball diamonds
and an outdoor shooting range.
Mr. Brunelle was accompanied
by his deputy minister Dorthea
Crittenden; Peter Szego, assis-
tant to the deputy minister ; Don
Martin Executive Director of the
Community Services division;
Robert Secord director of the
Youth and Recreation Branch of
the Ontario government; Jack
Long, Program Consultant to the
ministry of Education; Don
Southcott, executive assistant of
Ontario Treasurer and Huron
MPP Charles MacNaughton; and
Huron-Perth Separate School

Dashwood volunteer firemen
sponsored a Hallowe'en dance at
Dashwood community centre
Friday, October 27. The
costumes were most delightful
and the judges gave the prizes to
the following: best dressed cou-
ple, Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Cook,
Clinton; best dressed man, Mrs.
Hugh Boyle; best dressed lady,
Lennis Bedard: best comic,
Jerry Hartman; best group. Mr.
and Mrs. Hubert Miller, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Ford, Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Webb, and Mr. and Mrs.
chard O'Rourke.
.,lrs. Lavina Miller, Zurich,
spent some time with her sister
and husband, Mr. & Mrs. Louis
Restemayer, last week.
Mrs. Howard Maier attended
the London Area Women's
Institute convention at the Ban-
queter Motel, London. last week.
Mrs. Rosaleen Schenk accom-
panied by Mr. & Mrs. Robert
Green and Jodi, Huron Park,
spent Sunday at Waterloo with
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hambrick.
The LWML of Zion Lutheran
church held their meeting last
anniversar
week with Mrs. R. Schenk taking
the topic, "A Miracle of
Healing," Mrs. Albert Miller,
president, dealt with the
business. Mrs, Arnold Becker
gave a report on the convention
held in St. Catharines. Used soap
and old sheets are still needed for
medical missions. The League
plans on making more Christmas
decorations for the Christmas
tree.
Cathy Grenier, R.N.A. student
at Exeter Hospital entertained,_,
her fellow classmates at the
home of her parents, Dashwood.
It was also a surprise shower for
Wendy Foster, R.N.A. student.
Games were played followed by a
barbeque.
Truman Fischer has returned
to his sister's home in Zurich
after an eight month stay in
Saskatchewan.
Mrs. Paul Watson, Mrs. Don
Adams, Mrs. Harry Sheppard,
Mrs. Rachelle Laporte, and Mrs.
Phil Overholt attended the Tops
convention at London, Sunday.
Bill Chandler is a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London.
Weekend visitors at the home

former base into a ,sports
training complex for the youth of
Ontario.
Brunelle said that he was very
impressed with the number of
facilities and the good conditions
in which they had been kept since
the base closing last January and
promised an early answer.
Vanastra currently has a pop-
ulation of nearly 1,000 people and
a bank, grocery store, service
station and a branch of
Conestoga Community College.
There are presently two in-
dustries operating at the
Vanastra and many more are
promised for the near future,
Fred Ginn said.

niversary October 30. A family
dinner was held on Saturday
evening at Vito's Pizza Cave,
London and on Sunday they were
guests of their son, William, Lon-

The sympathy of this com-
munity is extended to Mr. & Mrs.
Irwin Luther, Mrs. Luther's
brother died in Victoria Hospital,
London last Wednesday.
Brian Bullock, son of Mr. &
Mrs. Stewart Bullock had the
misfortune to break his leg while
playing football at school last
Tuesday.
Mr. & Mrs. Joe Horner have
returned to their home after a
ten day visit in the Canadian
west.
Harold McDonald is a patient
in St. Joseph's Hospital, London.
Newton Hayter has arrived
home after 2 months in the
western provinces.
Bill Clarke has returned after
spending a few days in the
Bahamas.
The Ladies Guild of Grace
Anglican Church held a
successful bazaar and tea last
Wednesday evening.
Services in the UnitedChurch
will be withdrawn next Sunday in
favor of the Grand Bend United
Church Anniversary.
