Ninety-seventh anniversary
services were held in the United
Church Sunday when capacity
audiences attended both morning
and evening services.
At the morning service Rev.
Wm. Stephenson, Ailsa Craig was
guest speaker and captivated his
listeners with his enthusiasm,
wit and wisdom.
At the evening service, Rev,
Anne Langford, Metropolitan
United Church, London chose as
her theme "Community of
Concerns" and gave an ex-
position of her experiences at the
United Church General Council
sessions held in Saskatoon this
past summer.
Musical guests for the day
included, Mrs. Douglas Holmes,
vocalist, Parkhill, Alfred Ropp
and sons, Nairn and Mrs.
Margaret King, organ recording
artist, Watford.
Personals
Lawrence Pollock is now a
resident of the Merry Hill Nur-
sing Home, Strathroy.
Word has been received of the
serious illness of Mrs. James
Wellman, Arlington Heights,
Illinois. Mrs. Wellman is the
former Olive McIntosh.
Mrs. Bill Clarke has arrived
home, having accompanied her
mother to her home in
Newfoundland,

Last Wednesday evening a
shower was held in the Sunday
School rooms of Zion United
Church to honour Julia Schenk,
October bride-elect. Mrs, Lloyd
Roeszler was chairman for the
program. Mrs. Ed Finkbeiner
played several numbers on the
piano and Barbara Ratz and
Shelley Weber played a musical
number. Mrs, Robert Crawford,
conducted contests and
Katherine Ratz read the address.
Cathy Schenk, Linda and Lisa
Lippert assisted Julia in opening
gifts,
Friday evening a group of
former neighbours gathered at
the home of Albert Geiser,
Exeter. The evening was spent
playing table games. Mrs.
Gordon Morlock presented the
gift.
Sunday Rev. Douglas Warren
was anniversary speaker in his
home church, Trinity United,
Windsor. Rev, Armin Schlenker
conducted the morning service in
Zion United Church.
Monday evening a shower to
honour Linda Fydenchuk,
October bride-elect, was held at
the home of Mr. & Mrs. Torn
Smithers; Mrs. Wm. Hicks of
Parkhill who. visited with Mrs,
Roy Sheppard; and Mr. & Mrs.
Langford Ridley, Parkhill with
Mrs. Vera Brophey.
