Northern feeder sates On Wednesday and Thursday September 27 and 28 the Thessalon and Manitoulin cattle sales were held under very good conditions, Auctioneer Vern Shepherdson, New Liskeard sold the 1025 head at Thessalon and the 2681 head at Manitoulin quickly to the many buyers who bid briskly and kept the prices strong. There was a good demand for heifers, and at Thessalon there was little difference in price. The top heifer price was for a lot of calves which brought $47.25. Good steer calves sold in the $46. range. Heavy steers over 800 obs, brought $33.50 to $36.25. At Manitoulin, the prices were similar. Steer calves brought $47.50; heifer calves $36.25; heavy steers and heifers brought the same of $37.25.
