OCTOBER 1972
.t1V,L1.) 12S CXIXIIKATC1
Traditionally, we .celebrate one week each year.
In October as National pharmacy Week, :fills
year the theroe of our pharmacy week is to
remind friends and .custorners to cheek with us
if they are taking non-prescription drugs.
WRY IS. TILOS IMPORTANT?
A great many drugs that do. not require a
doctor's prescription pan still be very danger'-
pus and should not be taker!. indiscriminately.
These drugs may not be as Went as Kest:rip-
WM drugs When compared on paper, but there
is "abundant evidence" that their actual phar-
maceutical action indicates that they deserve
to he taken with caution.
HOW CAN WE HELP yOlv?
Naturally, We must intimately know about
every prescription medicine that is dispensed
from our pharmacy. information provided by
the manufacturer enables us to know the names
and quantities of therapeutically active or sig-
nilieant ingredients in these drugs. We apply
this same standard to non-prescription reme,
dies and we will only recommend those pro-
ducts on which such information is available.
SIIOULD YOU SEE A DOCTOR.?
If for any reason we think you are doing
yourself a disservice by continuing with a
nose-prescription drug, we will never hesitate
to recommend that you consult your doctor.
A TIME FOR REDEDICATION
Each year we also take advantage of it being
National Pharmacy Week to rededicate our-
selves once again to the code of Mies of
Pharmacy which states that, "The Pharmacist
lipids the Health and Safety of His Patrons to
he of First Consideration.

Art purchased
for school use
The Huron County Board of
e3dueation has purchased a
collection of art works from the
Ontario Arts Council, to display
at area secondary schools.
The collection, which consists
of 21 works of art, was put
together by the Council and is to
be displayed across the province,
starting October 12.
It is intended that it will be
located in the secondary schools
and neighbouring elementary
schools will be encouraged to
bring their art classes to visit the
display.
The Huron County display, will
not be able to open officially on
the intended date. It was to begin
in Central Huron Secondary
School. However, a university
night for grades 12 and 13, and a
fashion show sponsored by a
community organization are
already scheduled for that
school, that evening.
A later date will be announced
when the display will be available
to the public in this area

Hensall plant
to open soon
With the help of an Ontario
Development Corporation loan,
Jim Taylor, of Traylor Industries
Ltd., Hensall, hopes to start
production in less than a month.
"I hope we'll be under way by
November 1," said Mr. Taylor.
He applied for the loan last
spring, but just received word of
it a few weeks ago, It will consist
of a performance loan of $7,500
and a small business loan of
$24,000 toward the cost of an
additional building and the
purchase of new manufacturing
equipment.
The firm produces truck
campers and will begin making
industrial trailers and mobile
offices, The product comes
complete, right down to the
cushions and curtains, Mr.
Taylor said he should be able to
put out one camper in five days
once they go into full production.
He said, however, that he expects
it will be January 1, before he can
expect these results,
The company, which is located
on Brock St., Hensall, will add six
new employees when the
production is under way, and
anticipates another thirty people
over the following five year
period.
The main part of the plant is a
former hangar from Clinton Air
Force Base, which Mr. Taylor
moved to its present site this
summer. Because it is not a new
building (built in 1953) Mr.
Taylor could not get an ODC loan
applicable to it, only to the ad-
dition and to the machinery.

Dr. Frank Mills, the Medical
Officer of Health for the County
of Huron and Director of the
Huron County Health Unit, has
informed the Times-Advocate
that the Health Unit will actively
participate in the night school
program of the Huron County
Board of Education in two areas:
"Preparation for Parenthood"
and "Family Living" seminars.
Dr. Mills stated that the
"Preparation for Parenthood"
classes scheduled for the night
school timetable will replace the
previous so-called prenatal
classes which were conducted
throughout the county.
"Preparation for Parenthood"
classes will be conducted in each
of the county's secondary schools
where night courses are
available and will be taught by
the public health nurse for that
area with the assistance of
various resource personnel.
The presentation of this series
of classes in seminar-type
discussion groups, in conjunction
with the board of Education night
school courses, allows for better
timing of the course for the ex-
pectant mother and father, in a
centralized location and in-
tegrated with. the other com-
munity night education courses.

tations, "Family Living"

seminars, will also be taught by
the area public health nurse (in
all secondary schools) and will be
presented on a separate evening
to that of the "Preparation for
Parenthood" series to allow
attendance at both if desired.
This series will make use of
resource personnel from varied
fields as well as the nurse in-
structor, and the series will offer
instruction to all age groups in
such important areas as safety in
the home, accident prevention,
first-aid care for acute
emergencies, practical home
nursing and generally the
essentials of healthful, happy
living. The intent of the Health
Unit in providing these two
courses is to help people to a
better understanding of child
development (in the
"Preparation for Parenthood"
classes) and a source of practical
information and open discussion
in the "Family Living" classes.
The schedule of dates of these
two series will be published in at
a later date.
