separate schools is now un-
derway.
Safety awards will be given to
the two bicycle drivers who are
picked as the most observant,

safety awards given in the past
years, along with a list of bicycle
safety rules.
In addition this year an Elmer

comrades the early bird
campaign for renewal of 1973
membership has started at
Branch 540. Since this program
was implemented by Command,
IP active 540 has always had a
successful campaign mainly due
to the co-operation and
dedication of the members.
We know the 1972-73 campaign
will be just as successful —
Command has a plaque for
presentation to branches with a
certain percentage of their dues
paid in advance — Branch 540
wants one --, how about it —
support your membership
chairman Comrade Jim Simpson
and give him seomthing to crow
abe'st about.
• This year all early birds will
have the early bird sticker af-
fixed to their membership card —
I'm an Early Bird — How about
you? Join me, and you, too will
have something to crow about.
Comrade Art Bell, our new
poppy chairman, advised that he
• will be getting Poppy oriented
very soon — remember
comrades there are only about 6
weeks remaining until our poppy
campaign.
Let us make certain that our
1972 campaign will be the
* greatest ever and when Comrade
Art calls upon you for a little of
your time, pause and reflect for a
moment and remember they
gave their life surely you can
spare an hour of yours. Our
thanks to Comrade Bell for
chairing this most important

Clandeboye Church news
Sunday Rev, R.A. Carson
preached on the theme "The
• Sunday School, The Home, and
The Church." He asked what is
the task of the Church?
He said, the, Church is a teacher
whose task is to make known to a
world in need, the good news of
the Gospel by a process of
teaching. He said the Church uses
`the Sunday School for this, and he
added that he felt the Sunday
School was the key to the church.

approaching is the fact that
Comrade Bill Smith is busy

our area. This Legion • program
presents a challenge to our youth
to express their views hi speech

Confusion and noise are
prevalent everywhere; students
talking, the band practicing,
workmen bustling about, dust
flying and everyone wanting Mr.

With a gleam of happiness in
his eyes, he confirms that though
he could have retired at the end of
June, 1972, he's going to see this
renovation job through.
If plans go as scheduled, work
will be completed by this

Find leak
in gas tank
The source of gasoline which
has been entering Exeter's sewer'
system was tracked down
Monday when a leak was found in
one of the gasoline tanks at
Graham Arthur Motors.
The tank has been pumped out
and will be replaced,
Gasoline fumes had been
evident in the Anne St, area for
some time and provincial of-
ficials had been called in to in-
vestigate the matter,
The problem increased over
the weekend and the local fire
brigade was asked to pump water
into the drain on several oc-
casions to clear the gasoline and
fumes.
At Monday's council meeting,
Councillor Tom MacMillan said
the officials here to find the
source of the trouble recom-
mended that local industries be
advised of the types of chemicals
and solutions which can be
dumped into sewers,
"He has the impression things
are getting in that shouldn't,"
MacMillan explained, adding
that people are probably not
aware of the regulations,
