This supplement of the Times-Advocate is being
distributed to all boxholders in the area, in addition to
regular subscribers. As well as local weekly news items, this
issue contains special advertising and items of interest to all
persons intending on visiting the fair.
These extra pages are intended to give readers an
insight into the many displays and exhibits that will be a
part of the 118th presentation of the Exeter Fall Fair.
Sponsored by the Exeter Agricultural Society, this
year's show will again feature many of the events that are a
tradition at fall fairs. plus some interesting added
attractions, designed to fulfill the interest of all fairgoers:,

Added to the poultry classes this year is a• special section

Interest in harness racing in this area continues with
abundance. Visitors to the Fair Saturday afternoon will
have their chance to see six heats of top notch racing 2A
This year four Fair patrons wilt have a chance to
stock their home freezers with one of the meat prizes being
offered in the lucky draw sponsored by the local
Agricultural Society 3A
Everybody welcome — The president of the Exeter
Agricultural Society, Hobert Down extends a cordial
welcome to attend the fair and enjoy an the fun 2A
In the 4-H section, six clubs will be in action along
with a calf club auction. SA
The Fair gets underway Friday night with one of the
most popular events, the baby show. Judging starts at 7:30,
so come early and get a good front row seat
Another highlight of the Friday evening Fair activities
is the ever popular Queen of the Fair contest. Last year's
Queen Joanne Burke will be on hand to crown the winner
New exhibits fr1 arts and crafts will be on display in
the arena.

The 118th Exeter Fall Fair is set for Friday
and Saturday of this week and the directors have
arranged several new features to satisfy the interest
of all ages of fair-goers.
Fair activities get underway Friday night
with Exeter Mayor Jack Delbridge handling the
official opening ceremonies along with fair
president Robert Down,
The opening by the mayor will be followed
by the ever popular baby show. Secretary Garnet
Hicks reported early this week that while a goodly
number of entries had been received there was
room for more. Babies may be entered in any one
of the four classes up to 6 p.m. tonight, Thursday
by calling secretary Hicks at 235-2438.
Following the baby show, the annual beauty
contest will be held for the sixth consecutive year.
This popular event has been a tremendous success
since its inception and this year should be no
exception.
Contestants are still needed for the beauty
contest and entries may he made to Carf Cann
until Friday afternoon.
The winner will receive a Bulova watch
donated by Exeter jeweller Earl Campbell. Each
contestant will receive a prize regardless of the
results of the judging. The new Queen will be
crowned by last year's winner Joanne Burke.
The second Queen to be crowned Friday
night is the fair's baking champion. The contestant
winning the most points in domestic class 50
receives a $15 cash award from The Times
Advocate.
Visitors to the fair Friday night will be
entertained by top notch amateur talent from the
immediate areas. Performing during the baby show
and beauty contest intermissions will be Brian and

Ronnie Denys of Zurich and Carolyn Glanville and
the Heywood brothers Bob and Danny from
Usborne township.
The indoor exhibits at the fair will be on
display Friday night as well as Saturday. Also on
display will be the usual lineup of booths showing
the merchandise of local merchants complete with
the popular candy booth of the Exeter Home and
School Association.
Displays on the grounds and the arena will be
more numerous than other years. Secretary Hicks
reports that request for exhibit space has reached
an all-time high.
Saturday afternoon, the London Forest City
model flying club will present an exhibition of
radio controlled model airplane flying.
At the same time a large number of Exeter
and district automobile dealers will have their
latest models on display.
Several new features are open to exhibitors.
Pigeon fanciers will have the opportunity to show
their prize stock for the first time.
Apples and their by-products may be entered
in a Commercial Fruit Feature. Each display must
include a six quart basket of apples and six
by-products, such as apple pie, cider, apple sauce,
etc.
A horseshoe pitching competition has been
added to the Saturday afternoon program with
$150 in prizes, •
Six 4-H clubs will be participating in the fair
with their various exhibits. The Exeter Agricultural
Society feeder calf club will be in operation for the
second year and the calves will be sold by public
auction Saturday afternoon at three o'clock.
A popular attraction will be back for the
third consecutive year. Six heats of exciting
harness racing will be provided with pari-mutuel
wagering facilities available on the grounds.
Expected to join Mayor Delbridge in a short
Saturday afternoon program are Huron MP R. E.
McKinley, Ontario Treasurer, The Hon. C, S.
MacNaughton, Huron Warden Elmer Hayter,.
Stephen Reeye Joseph Dietrich and Usborne Reeve
LlOyd Ferguson.
The Fair concludes Saturday night with
dances at two different locations. At the Exeter
Legion Hall, the "Chinook" will be providing
music for the young people while the Country
Ramblers will be playing at the arena for old-time
dancing.
Don't forget, the parade starts Saturday
morning at 10:00 a.m.
