Kinettes
new executive
The 1972,73 Hensall Kinette
year began with the Installation
of Officers held in Clinton Sep-
tember 9 with the Goderich and
Clinton clubs. The new executive
are president, Ann Maxwell; vice,
president, Sharon Hoffman;
secretary, Donna Bettke;
treasurer, Greta Baker;
registrar, Donna Bell; bulletin
editors, Karen Schurman, Linda.
McCallum.
September 10 the Kinettes held
a family day picnic for the
Kinsmen and their families.
Following games, prizes and
supper, a ball game was enjoyed
by all.
The first meeting of the fall
season of the club will be on
September 27 at the home of Mrs.
Belva Fuss.

Women's Institute
The Public Relations meeting
1)f Hensall W,I, was held in the
Legion Hall Wednesday evening
Prescient Mrs. Dorothy Beaton
presided in the chair, After the
roll call "A current event from
the day's newspaper", Mrs,
Beaton welcomed members and
guests.
A letter was read from Brother
Bob Mittleholtz telling of his work
in India and a special collection
will be taken next meeting to help
further his work among the
needy. The Huron County Rally
will be held at Auburn on October
2nd., members wishing to attend
should contact Mrs. Peck to
arrange transportation.
• The program, convened by
Mrs. Pearl Koehler and Mrs.
Susan Purdy, opened with all
taking part in a sing-song, Mrs.
Eric Luther and Mrs. Cliff
Britton then entertained with a
duet "Amazing Grace", Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Spencer showed
slides and gave a most in-
teresting and informative talk on
their trip to Greece. Those taking
part in the' program were
thanked by Mrs. J. McAllister
and lunch was served by
hostesses Mrs. Vera Brintnell,
• Mrs. Beryl Elgie and their
committee.

Church to start off the new fall
season. Mrs. Albert Shirray
presided using as her theme "To
worship the Lord as Creator and
Sustainer".
Mrs. Walter Spencer conducted
the study "the burdens and
challenges facing Africa in the
`70's'!Roll Call was answered by
12 members. The unit was
reminded that they are
responsible for visitation at the
Queensway Nursing Home in
October.
It was announced that the
General Meeting will be held
October 2. Mrs. Don Joynt read
an article from the May
Chatelaine magazine, Mrs. John
Consitt was hostess and was
assisted by Mrs. Walter Spencer
and Mrs. Byron Kyle.
Unit IV UCW
Unit IV of Hensall U,C,W.
started their fall term with a pot
luck dinner with about 48 present.
Mrs. James McAllister presided
for the program, welcomed the
guests and condunted the
devotional, on "Prayer".
"In this time together, let us
think about prayer" was an-
swered by Mrs. Britton and Mrs.
Luther, assisting Mrs.
McAllister. "Prayer, what is it to
you?" was answered by Mrs. E.
Chipchase and Mrs. Harry
Mrs. Sim Roobal, and daughter
Mrs. Don Dodds and Joan,
Seaforth, left last week to visit
relatives in Holland. Mr. & Mrs.
Sim Roobal and Mrs. Dodds left
Holland in 1947 and came to
Montreal, During the 25 years of
their residence Mrs. Roobal has
visited her native land three
times but her daughter has never
been back to Holland, '
Mr. & Mrs. George Armstrong
were recent visitors with their
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. &
Mrs. Don Flear, Grand Bend.
Mr. & Mrs. Michael Hoy,
Waterloo spent the weekend with
Mr. & Mrs, Harry Hoy and Bill.
Mrs. Alma Hess who has been a
patient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter, returned to her home,
Patricia Lemmon, London,
spent the week-end with Mrs,
Leona Parke.
Charles Mickle, Hamilton,
spent the weekend with his
parents Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle.
Caldwell, The Lords prayer Was
repeated in unison followed by
silent prayer and prayer by Mrs.
McAllister.
A piano duet played by Mrs. T,
Sherritt and Mrs, G. Harpole was
much enjoyed. Mrs. Laird Mickle
conducted a sing-song of old
hymns with Mrs, Sherritt ac-
companying. Plans were
finalized for the October 2
general meeting. Mrs. E. Rowe
pronounced the benediction.
St. Pauls A.C.W.
The regular meeting of St.
Pauls Anglican Church Women
was held in the Church basement
Thursday evening with the
President Mrs. W. Scrabuik
presiding. Mrs. G. A. Anderson
opened the meeting with the
Lord's prayer and the members'
prayer. The Litany was read
from the Living Message.
Mrs. D. Windover read a letter
of thanks from Mrs. E, L. Welch
for Christmas cards sent to the
retarded children, and a card of
appreciation from the Siddall
family, The roll call was an-
swered with a Bible verse with
the word "harvest" in it. Plans
were made for the Bazaar and
Bake Sale to be held October 28.
Mrs. Anderson spoke briefly on
the many workshops to be held in
Goderich October 23, and closed
the meeting with prayer.

Kitchener, visited over the
weekend with tie latters parents

spent Friday and Saturday night
with his parents Mr. & Mrs. Laird

were in Elkton, Michigan for the
weekend and attended the
funeral of Mervin Bushlen,
husband of Beatrice Hamather,
Mr. & Mrs. Fred Peters were
pleasantly i surprised last
Thursday when Mr. and Mrs,
Bert Taylor from Brighton,
Sussex England, called on them
for a visit.
St. Paul's Anglican Church will
be observing their Harvest
Thanksgiving Service October 1,
at 7 p.m.
Hoy - McCurdy
White Gladioli with pink and
mauve decorated St. Stephen's
Anglican Church, Windsor for the
wedding of Mary Beth McCurdy
and Michael H. Hoy, August 26,
1972.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
& Mrs. A.L. McCurdy, Windsor,
and the groom's parents are Mr.
& Mrs. Harry Hoy, Hensall.
Rev. E. Tilford officiated for
the ceremony and Mrs. C. O'Neil
played the wedding music and
accompanied the soloist, Lynn
Dawson, Windsor.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a floor length
gown of silk organza over taffeta
featuring a fitted waist with full
bishop sleeves. The full length
chapel train was trimmed with
pink ribbon and white alencon
lace. She carried pink roses,
babies' breath, carnations and
heather.
The maid of honour, Mary
Trusler, Toronto and
bridesmaids Mary Powell,
Willowdale, Mrs. C. McCurdy,
Windsor and Mrs, W. Bridle,
Kitchener were gowned in pink
peasant dresses with fitted waists
and trimmed with floral lace.
Pink sweetheart roses adorned
their hair, and they carried
baskets of pink and blue car-
nations.
The best man was Brtice Shaw;'
Exeter. Ushers were Christopher
J, McCurdy, Windsor Martin W.
McCurdy, Windsor, Bryan Fink
and Bill Hoy, Hensall.
Reception was held at Brook-
view Country Club for 120 guests,
The young couple will reside in
Waterloo where they are in their
third year at University of
Waterloo.
Prior to the wedding the bride
was honored at showers at the
home of Mrs. C. Powell
Willowdale, showers in Windsor,
Girl honored
at shower
Wednesday evening in the
Legion Hall Hensall, a
miscellaneous shower was held
in honor of Paula Lynn Day
whose wedding to Han Zeehuisen
will take place October 7. The
bride-to-be was escorted to a
beautifully decorated chair and
assisted by sisters Jacqueline
and Catherine Day and Peggy
Wallace in opening gifts.
The shower was arranged and
convened by Mrs. Rosallie
Langford, Mrs. Barb Ballantyne
and Mrs. Jean Zeehuisen. When
the wrappings were cleared0 away
Mrs. Sandra Carlile and
assistants' helped to serve a
delicious lunch,
and one in Hensall arranged by
Mrs. Ed Fink and Mrs, Bryan
Fink.
Arnold Circle
holds supper
The Arnold Circle of the Car-
mel Presbyterian Church started .
off the fall season Monday
evening with a pot luck supper at
the home of Mrs. Joanne Bell.
Mrs. Marg Vanstone and Mrs,
Joanne Bell conducted the
worship entitled "Rainy Day
Troubles," A chapter in the book
"Time out Ladies" written by
Dale Evans was read and very
much enjoyed.
Much discussion was had on
ideas and suggestions of ways to
enlarge the group and it was
finally decided to have a guest
speaker next meeting with each
member to bring a guest. The
Arnold Circle are responsible for
flowers in the Church in October.
It was reported that there were 26
visits made to sick and shut-ins
and a baby gift had been sent to
Joanne Bell, The meeting closed
with prayer.
Hostesses were Marg Vanstone
and Joanne Bell. Next meeting
October 16, Mrs. Janice Baker
and Mrs. Marg Baker will be in
charge of the worship.
