GRFENWAY
"A little Algonquin": This is
the way one city dweller
describes what is now called
"Trillium Wood," an 100 acre
trailer camp situated a little over
two miles south and east of here.
Older residents of this com-
munity will remember wan-
dering through this wilderness
here wild raspberries and
thimbleberries were plentiful-.
Having purchased this land
just a year ago from Fred Gard-
ner, today George and Marion
Dixon are busy transforming the
area into an attractive hide-a-
way for city folk and others
wishing respite from their work,
New projects usually require
great enthusiasm, perseverance
and hard work, for there are
bound to be obstacles and this
venture proved to be no ex-
ception. Five holes were drilled
in various spots before water was
found, and then because of its
location much longer water-pipe
and hydro lines were required to
reach the newly-built house and
washrooms than originally hoped
for.
Good packing sand and gravel
were discovered in one area and
already George has two miles of
road cleared and built up, and
with extra help many campsites
are now in evidence, leaving
every possible tree standing.
Deer have been sighted from
time to time, also pheasants and
a pair of lovely blue herons have
taken up residence near the
creek. With conservation the
word these times, much credit is
due to the Dixons' and their
helpers for transforming this
particular area into a place of
natural beauty.
Every week brings new in-
terested visitors. When this
reporter drove in, he noticed
open house in honor of their
daughter, Gayle's marriage to
David Frederick Elston son, of
Mr. & Mrs. Allan Elston recently,
Mrs. Mardlin and Mrs. Elston
with Gayle received the guests.

the guest book and about 200

The tea table was centred with
an arrangement of roses. Those

evening were the four grand-
mothers of the bride and groom;
Mrs. Win, Bain , St, Marys; Mrs.
Minnie Mardlin, Granton; Mrs.
E.L. Gibson, Exeter; and Mrs.
M.H. Elston.
Serving in the tea room were
Susan Ferrier, Orillia ; Mrs.
Margaret Richardson, London;
and Mrs. Janice Mardlin,
Granton,
Assisting in the kitchen were
Mrs. Gordon Mardlin, Mrs. Fred

Mrs. Ethel Squire,
DiSplaying the trousseau and
gifts were Sheila Elston and
Wendy Elston, Ruth and Sharon
Mardlin and Joan Garrett.
