A crew of 25 men from Dobson Roofing, employees from Sam Sweitzer Construction along with the local PUG heard lectures by Ron. Smith and Jeff Hoyle of the Ontario Safe Practice Depart- ment. Roofing personnel were in- structed on personal protective equipment, first aid, burns and roofing safety precautions. The other groups heard about road construction safety, flagging, OPP regulations and personal protective equipment. The Safety Association 60-foot FUN DAY at GRANTON PARK SAT. Ron Smith of the department said industrial accidents are on the decrease. In 1970 a total of 373,133 construction accidents were reported and last year the figure dropped to 366,830. He added, "These figures are encouraging as the number of employees is continually in- creasing." By MRS. FRED BOWDEN Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Powe returned home Monday night following the Huron County Beef Producers tour of England, Scotland and Ireland. There were 50 on the tour. Ora Miller, Middlebury, Indiana, and Mrs. Katie Schrock, Goshen, Indiana were weekend guests with Mr, &Mrs. Ken Greb. Mr. & Mrs. Norman Fralick who were visitors at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins left Monday to visit with Mr. & Mrs. Chas. Hodgins in Chesley before returning to their home in Royal Oak, Michigan. Mr. & Mrs. James Gaunt and Janet were weekend visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Greb and family, Sturgeon Falls. Janet remained for some holidays. Dr. & Mrs. Imre Toth and family, Boston, are holidaying with Mrs, Toth's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins, Mr. & Mrs. John Thompson were weekend guests with Mr. & Mrs. Sherman Eaton and family in Chatham. Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins, Dr. & Mrs. Imre Toth and family and Mr. & Mrs. Norman Fralick attended the Hodgins family reunion at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Keith Hodgins and family in London, Sunday. There were 53 in attendance. Auxiliary ladies visit rest home By MRS. KEN McKELLAR CROMARTY In place of their regular meeting the Marian Ritchie Evening Auxiliary met on the lawn at the Kilbarchan Rest Home in Seaforth and presented a program for the patients there. Mrs. Sam McCurdy presided for the worship 'service which opened with the ,DDoxology. Mrs. Larry Gardiner read the scrip- ture and the meditation and prayer was given by Mrs. McCurdy. Mrs. T. L. Scott accompanied herself on the autoharp as she sang solos. Mrs. Lorne Elliott gave readings, and Mrs. Gordon Laing entertained with accordion music playing favourite hymns and polkas, A very humorous reading was given by Mrs. Glenn Elliott. Miss Mabel Turnbull expressed the thanks of the residents of the Home and lunch was served. Personals On Monday afternoon the home economist, Miss Henderson, was in the area inspecting the gar- dens of the 4-H club members. Several families from' this community attended the Allen- Mc Lachlan-Hoggarth family reunion at Lion's Park, Seaforth Sunday afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Otto Walker and Mr. & Mrs. Darrell Parker, Staffa, spent a week visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Alex Walker and family, Dowling, Ontario. Mr. & Mrs. Alex Ramsey visited Monday evening with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. James Ramsey and family, Molesworth. Guests with Mr. & Mrs. Larry Gardiner, Lisa and Steven on Sunday were Mr. & Mrs. Ken Bearss and Brian, St. Marys, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Gardiner, Brenda, Ronald and Robbie, As for women symphony conductors, a musician knows when the upbeat starts, because that is when the slip starts to show. Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Passmore, and Beverley returned home Friday after having been to Calgary, Long View, Banff, Lake Louise and Thunder Bay for the past two weeks. Louis Mivault, Montreal, and Richard May, London visited with Mr. & Mrs. Ross Hodgert. Mr. & Mrs. Carl Willert and family Zurich visited Sunday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Jeffery, Mrs: Myrtle Passmore, David, Darlene, Dale and friends and Mrs. W. Haist, Exeter, visited on the weekend with the former's sister and family Mr. & Mrs. Oren Grace of Gibraltar, Michigan, where they 'enjoyed a boat cruise to Bob-lo-Island and otber points. The Graces had just returned from a trip to Alaska and British Columbia. Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde and Calvin, and Mr. & Mrs, Glenn Rohde and Danny attended a birthday picnic for Mrs. Milton Sleamon at Riverview Park, Exeter, Sunday. Sunday School Picnic Tuesday about 75 adults and children gathered at Riverview Park for their annual Sunday School Picnic. After a bountiful dinner under the table com- mittee, Mrs. Edwin Miller and Mrs. Floyd Stewart and families, sports were held under the leadership of Mrs. John Pym, Sylvia Stewart and Barbara Miller.
