Coultman. Mr. & Mrs, Max Turnbull at- tended the McDonald-Cowie reunion in Strathroy last Saturday. Wm. Brenner is a patient in Exeter hospital. The community was saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Christina Craig in Clinton hospital last week. Mr. & Mrs. Robt Hiltz and daughter Tracy returned home to Detroit last Tuesday after vacationing in Grand Bend. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Craw, Cheryl and Craig, Saugerties, New York, are holidaying in Grand Bend at Huron Vista, Mr. & Mrs. Doug Burns of Peterboro are also visiting there. Cadets from Kitchener arrived at Ipperwash Army Camp last Saturday. The 1,085 cadets taking part in the army sponsored courses come from most urban centres in Ontario. By MRS. 4. Barbour were hostesses for the Citizenship and World Affairs meeting of the Staffa W.I. held:in the Staffa hall recently, The president presided and 17 members answered the roll call with a current event from the days newspaper. During business it was decided to keep the Institute's adopted child for another year. Members decided not to set up a display at Mitchell fair. Mrs. Ross McPhail presided for the program and introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Anne Burchill, Dublin who gave an interesting account of her duties as clerk of Hibbert Township, She was thanked by Mrs, Charles Douglas. Mrs, Lloyd Miller gave a paper on the motto, "Our heritage of Freedom like a jewel is ours to guard." Six young ladies en- tertained with several step- dancing numbers; Jill Harburn, Nancy Scott, Barbara Meikle, Janice Vivian, Betty Ann Miller and Karen Miller, Mrs. Ed Chappel gave the District Annual report. Mrs. Carter Kerslake introduced "Quite Time" on the Mary Stewart Collect. Mrs. Ross McPhail conducted an interesting contest on iden- tifying provincial flowers and buildings. Personals Vanessa Zinn, Dover, Penn- sylvania was a guest of the Templeman girls this past week and Christy Shermeyer, Dover, Pennsylvania was a guest of the Jeffery girls this past week, They are 4-H exchange young people visiting Perth County. Teresa Miller is assisting at Camp Bimini this week and Gordon Miller and Jim Scott are attending camp. Edna and Janet Miller, Lon- don, spent the weekend with their parents Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Miller. Members and friends of Hib- bert young people enjoyed a beach party and barbecue at the lake Sunday evening. Debbie Wallace, Mary Jane Templeman and Donna Waddel are among the 4-H members from Perth County attending a 3 day 4-H conference at the University of Waterloo this week. Mrs. Alvin Cole and Jean, Mrs. John Templeman and girls, Mrs. Leslie Miller and girls, Mrs. Dale Marten and Wanda, attended a surprise shower for Joan Annis, By MRS, KEN McKELLAR - Mrs. Eldon Allen was hostess for the July meeting of Cromarty Ladies' Aid. The president, Mrs. James Miller, opened the meeting with prayer and Mrs, Laverne Wallace was in charge of devotions. Seven members answered the roll call with a safety precaution in use in their home. During the business period, it was decided to donate $200 to David Scott a graduate from Three Rivers School,Sarawak, to assist in bringing Erong Ak Imang to Mitchell to continue his education. A donation of $500 was given to the board of managers, Mrs. Eldon Allen gave the report on the strawberry supper, which showed, that over 700 people were served. The purchase of two stools for the kitchen was ap- proved. Mrs. Wallace conducted a contest on faces, won by Mrs. G. Carey and Mrs. C. Douglas. Mr. & Mrs. Glen Lindsay and Serena Sue, St. Marys, visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Robert Gardiner. Mr. & Mrs, Lorne Splane and Beverly, London, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Scott. Mr. & Mrs. Howard Eves, Caroline and Janet,Moose Jaw Saskatchewan spent a week visiting relatives around Cromarty. Mrs. Charles La Forte and Danny, Windsor are holidaying with her mother Mrs. J. R. Jefferson. Other members of the family visiting Mrs. Jefferson were Mrs. bride-elect, in the orange hall, Mitchell Sunday afternoon, Jean Cole has accepted a position with Victoria and Grey, Stratford and Geraldine Tern- pleman has accepted a position with the Credit Bureau of Stratford and each began work on Monday.
