Tammy is a pupil of Miss Greta Lammie. Mrs. Sim Roobol, who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital, returned home. • Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Holland and family, Woodstock were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. James Sangster and Brad. Earl Dignan returned home from a motor trip to the western provinces. Anthony Gelderland, Ridgetown visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobal. Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Pepper and. daughters returned this past weekend from a weeks vacation spent camping at "Lost Forest Park" in the Parry Sound area. Mrs. Albert Alexander spent a few days last week visiting in London with her sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parsons, and while there, went to Guelph to visit cousins. Dorothy Farquhar, Toronto visited this week with her mother, Mrs. Emma Farquhar and brother-in-law and sister Mr. & Mrs. Walter Spencer. Mr. & Mrs. William Jaques and family of New Castle, and Mr. & Mrs. Harold Jaques and family of Cooksville were recent visitors with their parents Mr. & Mrs. Oliver Jaques. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Caldwell and Mr. & Mrs. Ray Consitt are holidaying in the western provinces, Charles Mickle, Hamilton and Ann Mickle, Toronto visited this week with their mother, Mrs. Laird Mickle and also with their father Mr. Laird Mickle who is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Rod Chapman, who has ac- cepted employment with the Exeter Branch of the Bank of Montreal, returned home after spending a week on course at the Toronto Branch of the Bank of Montreal. Rev. Donald Beck conducted service in the Hensall United Church Sunday delivering an inspiring message entitled "Love Is Something You Do." Gary Scholl of London was guest soloist and was accompanied by Mrs. John Turkheim at the organ. Mr. & Mrs. George Parker and family, Mr. & Mrs. Wayne McBride and family of Kippen and Mr. & Mrs. Stewart Broadfoot, Brucefield enjoyed a camping trip at French River. Rev. Bruce Guy performed the double ring ceremony in a setting of candelabra and floral arrangements of yellow and white gladioli and mums, Mrs. Nita Oesch provided the wedding music and accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Ruthanne Steckle. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Geiger, Zurich, are the parents of the bride, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Florence Steers, and nephew of Mr. and Mrs. 'Sandy Vinall, Brantford. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was dressed in a floor length gown of peau de charme. with bishop sleeves, standup collar and lace trim. The dress featured a chapel length train attached at the empire waistline. Her outfit was com- pleted with a layered full length veil, caught up by a cluster of white flowers. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and white daisies. Matron of honor, Mrs. Ruth Rowe, sister of the bride, was dressed in a full length gown of mint green polyester crepe with short puffy sleeves, empire waist and an A-line skirt. She carried a basket of yellow carnations and white daisies. Miniature car- nations in her hair completed the Sheppard picnic has good crowd The 1972 Sheppard reunion was held at the Community Centre, Anderson, Ontario July 15. There was a good attendance despite the inclement weather. The meal and sports all had to be inside. The new president for two years and secretary- treasurer, are Mr. & Mrs. Morley Fraser. Sports were conducted by Mr. & Mrs. Ray Morrison, St. Marys. Relatives attended from Lon don, Parkhill, St. MOys, Kirkton and a little girl from Montreal, visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Jim ensemble. Mitchell, St. Marys. ACW plans bake sale The A.C.W. of St. Pauls Anglican Church met July 13 at the home of Mrs. R. H. Mid- dleton. President Mrs. Scrabuik opened the meeting with the members prayer. Devotions from the living message followed with Mrs. F. Forrest reading the 92nd Psalm, Mrs. Anderson offering prayer, and Mrs. W. Scrabuik the litany. It was decided to have a Bake sale and auction October 28. Mrs. Annie Reid gave the Bible study on"Loneliness." The roll call was answered with a bible verse having a kind of food in it.Mrs. D. Windover was instructed to send the used Christmas cards to the retarded children in London. Mrs. G. A. Anderson closed the meeting with prayer. Playhouse rehearsals Rehearsals began last week at the new Huron Country Playhouse as the professional staff of actors, technicians, designer and director took up residence at the farm location on the B-Line, just two miles from Grand Bend. Work continues at a feverish pace in preparation for the opening July 26. July 22 the tent arrives and will be erected on the site near the old barn, which will be in partial use this summer as a theatre lobby and as an art exhibit area. "Two for the Seesaw" is the first play of the season. It stars Terry Tweed, well known television actress and New York actor, David Alexander, This play by William Gibson is a comedy about how two lonely people in New York City bring happiness into each other's lives. Two for the Seesaw was a smash Broadway hit which starred Henry Fonda and Ann Bancroft. The Hollywood film version starred Shirly MacLean and Robert Mitchum, Performances at the Playhouse will be given Wednesday through Sunday evenings at 9 p.m, with two shows on Saturday at 6 and 9 p.m. And the old-fashioned flapper who sat around in a short skirt and weird hairdo, holding an old- fashioned in one hand and her love beads in the other, is still With us. Now we call her grand- ma. ihom.sons hold reunion The 33rd Thomson reunion was held July 16 in the Mitchell Park with 50 in attendance, After a delicious smorgasbord dinner, President Pearl Preistap, presided for a short business meeting when officers for next years picnic were elected. They are president, Hannah Miller; vice-president, Dorothy Chase; secretary-treasurer, Mary Parsons; table committee, Roy Pepper, Russel and Marian Hooey; sports committee, Lloyd and Helen Thompson, Len and Gwen O'Rouke. A complete line of sports for the children was conducted by Cecil and Joyce Pepper. Winners are as follows: slow-motion race - Joanne Vorstenbosch, Laurie Pepper; throw the frisbee race, Joanne Vorstenbosch, Brenda Pepper; boys backwards race, David O'Rouke, Bert Vor- stenbosch Jr.; girls chewing gum race, Debbie Hooey, Laurie Pepper; guesssing number of jelly beans in a jar, Marilyn Pepper; lifesaver race, Brenda Pepper, Patti O'Rouke, Marilyn Pepper, and Debbie Hooey, A peanut scramble and candy scramble were enjoyed by the children. The youngest child present was Elizabeth Thomp- son, 10 month old daughter of Lloyd and Helen Thompson. Dinner, dance for graduates Mr, and Mrs. Ken McLean, Hensall, Mr. and Mrs. Ray McLean, London, and Mr. and Mrs. Larry McLean and Ray Devereaux, Seaforth attended a dinner-dance Saturday evening in the Canterbury Inn, Sarnia for graduates of the St. Claire Regional School of Nursing from which Gwen McLean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken McLean, Hensall graduated, Prior to graduation exercises Sunday, the girls of the Class of '72 were entertained to a Mother- Daughter luncheon in the school dining room. Each graduate was presented with a silver spoon engraved with the year of her graduation and every mother received a blue and yellow corsage. The graduation exercises were held in the Sanctuary of Central United Church in Sarnia, Sunday afternoon. Following the graduation Mr. and Mrs. Ken McLean entertained guests of their daughter Gwen to a dinner. Guests were ushered by Don Geiger and Ralph Geiger, brothers of the bride, and Robert Redpath. The wedding reception was held at the Pineridge Chalet. For travelling to Eastern and Nor- thern Ontario, the bride changed to a lemon yellow polyester crepe dress with white accessories and a corsage of white roses, The couple will reside in London. • • •
