"We take water for granted,
until we run short,"
With those words, Huron MP • Robert McKinley cut a ribbon
officially opening a new water
pump house in Hensall, Thur-
sday.
Joining him in the ceremony
were PUC chairman John Baker
and Commissioners Charles Hay
• and Rodger Venner and manager
Lorne Archer, •
The new well and pump house,
combined with the existing water
supply, now provide a capacity of
450 gallons per minute.
"This should serve the village
for several years," commented
Charles Hay, who acted as
chairman for the proceedings
which included a dinner at Hotel
Hensall attended by civic of-
ficials, contractors, invited
guests and their wives.
In reviewing the history of
attaining the new water supply,
he pointed out the village had
spent $15,000 to have a large firm
attempt to find water in the
vicinity of the present well. Their
efforts resulted in a flow of only
15 gallons per minute.
Two well witchers were then
paid $40 and "to the surprise and
delight of all" found the new
,§apply on the farm of Mrs— T..,
Sherrill _ 'edslerti outskirts
of Hensall.
The well was drilled by W. D.
Hopper & Sons, Seaforth.
Chairman John Baker, who is
also reeve, led a chorus of words
of commendation for PUC
manager Lorne Archer. All the
contracotrs also spoke highly of
Archer's assistance and Com-
missioner Rodger Venner
presented him with a gift.

orange sweetheart roses and
white miniature carnations.

maid of honor Elaine Randall,
and bridesmaids Irene Draycott
and Lynn Carson.

of white top and underskirt, with
multi-colored sheer over the skirt
and collar. The dress has a ruffle

further exhibited the small town
enthusiasm evident throughout
his riding of Huron.
"It's the people in responsible
jobs that make it such a nice
place," he concluded,
Mrs. Sherritt spoke briefly and
said she was happy to have been
of some assistance in the project
and she too paid tribute to the
cooperation of all concerned in
doing such a "wonderful job" at
the new pump house in front of
