Cost of sub-station is about $42,000. There are six miles of water mains in the village of Hensall with 37 hydrants and a total of 377 consumers, The total gallonage used in 1971 was 24,548,000. Cost of the new water installation is approximately $16,000. The PUC manager reports the electric load in the village has nearly doubled in the last five years with a 1971 total of 2,058 K.W. Underground feeder cables run from the sub-station to overhead distribution lines. The sub-station is located a block south of Main 4 Bride-to-be honored Mt. Mr. & Mrs, Sammy Ducharme, Windsor, and son visited over the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Hubert Carey and family. Thomas Ryan, Corbett is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Richard Trainor has returned to Hamilton after spending a week's holidays with his mother, Mrs. Mary Trainor. Mr. & Mrs. Clare Rock and family and Mary Eileen Carey were weekend guests with Mr. & Mrs. Joe Carey. Mr. & Mrs. Gerry Hartman and boys, London and Margaret Anne Hogan, Stratford, spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Hogan, Mr. & Mrs. Hubert Desjardine, Douglas Point, visited here over the weekend. Mrs. Albert Wydooghe has returned home from St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mrs. Laura McCann has returned home after visiting her daughter in Michigan. Mr. & Mrs. Donald McCann and family, Watford, visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Clem McCann and family. Mrs. Wm Patterson and girls have returned to their home in Winnipeg after visiting with her father, Mr. Joseph Dietrich and Paul . Geraldine Carey is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital London, and Mrs. Christena Dietrich is a patient in South Huron Hospital Exeter. Residents of the village of Hensall will be assured of plenty of water and hydro power for quite a few years as the result of recent achievements by the Hensall Public Utilities Corn- mission. Tonight, Thursday, a new well located just east of the village and a new hydro sub-station are being officially opened, Huron MP Bob McKinley, Hensall Reeve John Baker and PUC manager Lorne Archer will be handling the duties of officially opening the two new in- stallations. Huron MPP Charles MacNaughton has also been invited. The new well and pumping station will run alternately with the present water system. The new pump with a capacity of 250 imperial gallons per minute will operate one day with the present well and pump operating the next day and so on. They can be operated at the same time in case of an emergency, The new pump is hooked directly to the present water system. The existing well now from 27,600 volts to 4,800 volts. pumps into a 64,009 gallon reservoir at the rate of 100 gallons per minute. Water can then flow into the water mains at the rate of 350 gallons per minute, The new well was dug several months ago by W. D. Hopper and Sons of Seaforth and is 54 feet deep. PUC manager Lorne Archer, said the maximum amount of water used this year in Hensall in one day was about 103,000 gallons. This includes service to all industries. The new sub-station provides 3,000 KVA and transforms down Kippen ladies plan to picnic By MRS. RENA CALDWELL The U.C.W. of St. Andrew's Church, Kippen met on Wed- nesday evening June 28. Mrs. Ed McBride and Mrs. A. Moffatt were hostesses. Mrs. Alex McMurtrie gave the Devotional, the theme of which was Loyalty. Prayer and the Benediction closed the Worship period. Mrs, David Turner chaired the business portion of the meeting. Reports were given by the treasurer, Mrs. K. McLellan, Sunshine; Mrs. Norman Dickert, Visitors, Mrs. K. McLellan and Mrs. Robert Elgie gave a report of the Presbyterial held in Blyth. Plans were finalized for the picnic to be held July 16 at Riverview Park. It was decided to visit the Bluewater Rest Home July 10, the group leaders to attend to the lunch. The program will be under the charge of Mrs. R. Broadfoot, Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Tom Reid. The topic "Profile on Africa" was ably taken by Mrs. Edison McLean. Music was provided by Debbie Consitt, Sharon and Sue- Anne Finlayson, Courtesy remarks were given by Mrs. Emerson Anderson. Prayer for the leaders followed. Lunch was served by the committee in charge. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Ed McBride spent the weekend at Honey Harbour. Mr. & Mrs. Tom Burke, Apsley, visited Mr. & Mrs. W. L. Mellis and other relatives. Mr. & Mrs. W. L. Mellis spent Sunday in Wroxeter. Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Gackstetter, Guelph and Mr. & Mrs. I. Foster, Burlington spent ' Saturday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Harold Jones. street in the centre area of' the village. Installation of the sub-station Was done by Borland and Orchard, electrical contractors from Thorndale. Clarence Reid and Sons of Hensall handled the excavation work at both sites and Van I3ussell Construction of Lucan built the small building at the new waterworks location.
