from the Construction Safety

Cite need of repairs
at Hensall cemetery
Hensall Council received three
tenders Monday night for the
replacement of approximately
2,200 feet of sidewalk in the
village. They accepted the bid of
Gerald Shantz for $2 per lineal
foot.
Council was also approached
by a delegation representing the
Cemetery Board. Robert
MacGregor and Bob Cameron
said that extensive work needs to
be done on the cemetery. They
have taken in new land, which
must have fill and be landscaped.
The cemetery also has to have a
new fence and the chapel must be
painted.
In addition, Mr. Cameron said
that the older parts of the
cemetery, which date back to the
1830's are sunken in, and must be
filled and the stones levelled.
It was suggested that some of
this work could be done through
the Winter Work program, as
happened in Exeter last winter.
Reeve Baker said that council
would be willing to apply to the
Winter Works program for
assistance, and that council
would be quite willing to pay its
share of the costs.
The delegation were not able to
quote cost prices, however, so it
was decided to let the matter ride
until the Cemetery Board could
present a budget and come up
with some working figures and
approximate costs.
The question of the proposed
streetlight project for the village
was also brought up at the
meeting. The P.U.C. said they
