Former resident
passes away
Mrs. William J. McFalls, the
former Lou Armitage, Lucan
passed away in Craighome,
Ailsa Craig, June 21, 1972, in her
90th year.
She was predeceased by her
husband, and son Harold (1966).
Surviving are her sister, Mrs.
Florence Cunningham, London,
grandsons, Gary McFalls,
Lucan, and Larry McFalls,
London; and six great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
June 23, 1972 from the C, Haskett
and Son Funeral Home, Lucan,
with Rev.R. A. Carson of Holy
Trinity Anglican Church
officiating. Interment was in

ceremonies Comrade Charles
Moon, District A Public Relation
Officer presented a plaque to
Branch 540, on behalf of Ontario
Provincial Command, for
publishing the best bulletin and
weekly news column for a branch
of the Royal Canadian Legion
within the Province of Ontario
with a membership of 125
members or less, Comrade Sid
Daley received the plaque on
behalf of the Lucan branch and
urged the Comrades to keep up
their good work.
To wind up the evening the
members and guests enjoyed an
evening of dancing and
comradeship. Our thanks to
Auxiliary President Comrade
Gladys Reilly and her band of
faithfuls for preparing a
delightful lunch and of course to
540's faithful Ross Haugh, who,
though smitten by the flu bug,
still journeyed to Lucan to record
the events on film, how can we
ever thank dedication like that.
Comrades, we have had our
public address system and record
player repaired and it is working
really great — now here is the
problem — most of our records
are, well to be honest 'lousy' — if
you happen to have any good
dance records (remembering the
average age of the comrades,
Ahem) that you would like to
contribute to the cause, give us a
call at the Legion and we would
be most happy to pick, them up. It
is felt that if we can build up a
good record library, there is no
reason the membership of
Branch 540 and their friends
could not enjoy more social
evenings together.
A wee look into the future — our
Comrades of Branch 176 Forest,
are planning a Veterans Day and
Legion drumhead service on
Centennial Sunday August 6.
There will be a fly past, parade,
the works. These Comrades are
requesting branches from
throughout the area to bring their
branch colors and parade with
them. Any Comrade who would
like to attend are requested to
contact their branch secretary
that the Comrades of Forest may
be advised. This will be a family
day so be governed accordingly,
there will be eats, and fun for
everyone.
The Lucan Irish Nine will host
a fastball tournament in the ball
park, Lucan on June 30, July 1, 2,
3. Get over to the ball park and
support your team, Comrades.
On Saturday July 1 the tour-
nament dance will be held at the
Lucan Memorial Areana. Come
on over and dance to Joe Overholt
and his orchestra, the costa mere
$3.00 a couple.
This weekend our children will
be out of school for the summer,
let them enjoy a happy and
carefree holiday by keeping our
highways safe, drive carefully
Comrades — your very life
depends upon it, Have an en-
joyable, funfilled summer and if
you have a moment remember
Smilin' Carl or Li'l Len are
always ready to welcome you and
your guests to good old 540.
and that's 30 for this week
