Day camps set
for Exeter, Park
Starting July 4, all children of
the area between the ages of
eight and 12, and/or grades III to
VII will have the opportunity to
attend a day camp, operating
under the auspices of a govern-
ment Opportunities For Youth
grant,
Headed by Don Jolly, Bob
Read, Kathryn Hall and Mary
Ellen Gingerich, the program
will operate in two-week cycles.
Running Monday through
Friday, the cycles will begin July
4, July 17, July 31, and August 14.
A child may attend any or all of
these cycles, but regular at-
tendance during the cycle in
question will greatly benefit the
child, and will make it much
easier to plan the various
programs.
Activities included will be
crafts, games, sports, hikes,
cook-outs, drama, films, music,
nature. lore and bus trips.
The day camp is not limited to
town children, but is available to
all are a children. However,
parents must provide tran-
sportation for their children to
either Huron Park or to Exeter.
Programs will operate each
day in both communities; at the
Exeter Public School, 1 p.m. to 4
p.m.; and at the J.A.D. McCurdy
Public School in Huron Park, 9
a.m. to noon, and 1 p.m. to 3.30
p.m.
The program is operating with
the approval of the R.A.P. in
Exeter, but is totally independent
of it. The group in charge would
appreciate donations of
materials from area industries
for the crafts projects. They
would also like volunteers to help
with the programs. Inquiries
may be directed to Box 369,
Exeter or 235-2991, between 9 and
5, until June 30.
In addition to the four
university students working on
the day-care centre, eight area
high school students will also be
helping. They are Steve Wuerth,
Exeter; Larry Mason, Huron
Park; Terry Janke, Exeter; Dan
Stuckless, Huron Park; Deb
Walsh, Huron Park; Barb
Stanlake, Exeter; Dianne
McCann, Dashwood; and Mary
Anne Gielan, Crediton.
