plenty of fight and the Grand Bend Saints are no exception. At Wednesday's banquet, Bonnie Klopp
received a miniature set of boxing gloves. With Bonnie in the above picture are the two guest speakers

work. He graduated from a
school of social work in New York
city, and then became involved in
many practical fields in the
United States.
Among them were the Catholic
Youth Organization in Detroit,
camps, recreation programs, and
youth groups. He also worked in
the outpatients division of a
mental health clinic in Toledo,
and with a community
psychiatric hospital in Windsor.
At the Huron County C.A.S.,
Mr. Shanahan will take some
cases himself, as well as
supervising part of the staff,
He hopes that his previous
experience will aid his work in
Huron County, especially where
emotional factors are involved.
Mr, Shanahan feels that
although the number of young
children taken into the care of the
C.A.S. is dropping, the overall
number will remain constant
because of an expected increase
in children aged nine to 13.
"More families will be
breaking up since fewer and
fewer people are approaching
marriage now with the intention
to make it a permanent thing,"
he said.
He also feels that the C.A.S.
must get involved in the field of
family councelling and more
politically involved, as this
relates to social problems, with
which social workers are
familiar,
SMILE AWHILE ,
I used to feel guilty about the
burden I placed on the checkout
clerk at the supermarket as, I
approached with my massive
collection of food to feed a family
of ten. Then one day, when I
started to voice my usual barely
audible apology, the clerk gave
me a beaming smile as he called
across to the manager, "It's
okay, boss, she's here! You can
go ahead and make up the payroll
now."
