C. S. MacNaughton at the Parliament buildings StPawns. of Huron Centennial School at ffrucefield visited the 9ntarip, Legislature in Toronto recently. The following story on the trip was written by Susan Parke and Jill McLellan, We left school at lunch time anxiously awaiting the time when We would arrive at the Royal. York Hotel, After boarding the train in Stratford we got settled. in our seats to enjoy the ride. For most of us it was our first train ride so it was very exciting. We made few stops on the way but finally We came to Union Station where we got off the train and finally Were in the Royal York. We gathered in the lobby and walked to the Toronto-Dominion Centre. It was very exciting to look down over Toronto from the top of the Centre. When we returned to the ground floor, we were given free time to shop and eat our supper. I was amazed at Many visitors at Mt. Carmel Mr. & Mrs, Bill McCann and Mr. & Mrs. Joe Kaak have returned home after a trip through Southern States and Mexico. We returned to the hotel at about 6:45 and met in the lobby to board the subway. Again this was the first subway ride for many of us. I thought it was a very efficient and inexpensive means of transportation. When we reached Maple Leaf Gardens and found our seats, everyone was amazed at the size and warmth of the Gardens, It was a very good hockey game yet to the disappointment of many, Toronto was defeated by Montreal with a score of 5 - 2. After watching the hockey game we returned to the hotel and were to be settled down ready for bed at 11:30 though everyone still seemed full of energy. The next morning we were in the coffee shop for breakfast at about 8:15, We then met in the lobby and took the subway t;o the Canadianna Museum. This museum contained antique furniture, old china and coins which were all Canadian. After this we walked up the street to the Royal Ontario Museum where we went back in time to the early Egyptians and Chinese, This I found very interesting. I was surprised at the way the Egyp- tians mummified persons in order to preserve more bodies, One mummy was 2800 years old and still had many facial parts clearly marked. Then we ate our lunch at the Dinosaur Den and left to go back to the hotel by subway. In the afternoon we went to Queen's Park to the Ontario Parliament Buildings to watch the session and meet Mr. Chas. MacNaughton, By MANUEL CURTS GREENWAY Mr. & Mrs. Harry Horner were guests of honor at a family dinner in tile Parkhill Community Centre, Saturday evening, the occasion being their 40th wedding anniversary. Personals The CGIT of the United Church were joined by the members of their families at a variety supper in the Sunday School rooms, Friday evening. Daffodils were placed in the Some of the matters discussed were the unemployment problems in Ontario, Simcoe Day and a bill about old folk's homes. If so, many preachers hope it will soon strike the of- fering plates. Greenway couples celebrate anniversary that it was a huge building with. beautifully carpeted, floors and. crystal chandeliers. Since this. was the first time many of us had. been to Parliament, we were a little confused with the proceedings. Our questions were soon answered by Mr. MacNaughton when he spoke briefly to us. Back at the hotel we got our luggage and boarded the train for • Stratford. We arrived at the school at 8:00 and our parents took us home to bed. All in all it was very educational and I think it brings you closer to maturity to be out on your own for awhile. I would like to thank all of the people who made this trip possible for us.
