the banquet which was my
pleasure to MC, A delightful
smorgasbord dinner was
prepared by Comrade Jack
Carrington and his lovely wife
Kay. If any person left the dinner
table hungry they had no one to
blame but themselves.
The highlight of the evening
was of course the presentation of
Awards by Molsons'
Ambassador of Goodwill and
Comradeship Denny Riggin. The
following is the results of the
winter long competitions - euchre
- tied for third, Carl and Helen
Isaac, Gord and Marie Elson;
second, Larry and Mary Cronyn;
the winners were Ken and Stella
Fisher.
Darts - tied for third were Carl
and Helen Isaac and Len and
Stella Fisher; second, Gord and
Marie Elson; the winners were
Joe and Molly McIntyre. Crib-
bage; third, Shirley Stuckless
and Sid Daley; second, Gord and
Marie Elson; the winners were
Ken and Stella Fisher.
Shuffle board, tied for third,
Joe and Molly McIntyre and
Larry and Mildred Hirtzel; tied
for second, Carl and Helen Isaac
and Larry and Mary Cronyn; the
winners were Shirley Stuckless
and George Juergens.
Our congratulations to the
winners and grateful thanks to
Comrade Gord Elson 540's sports
officer for the success of this
segment of his energetic Branch
sports program. Thanks also to
the hard working gals of the
sports club and to all those who in
any way contributed to the suc-
cess of the gala windup of the
1971-72 version of Branch 540
Tuesday night mixed sports.
Before closing off this subject
mustn't forget the dance which
followed the presentations -
Dancing to the music of Bill Walls
and his orchestra was a delight
and a pleasure, we just gotta get
them back.
Now folks, don't forget the date
of the dance you have all been
waiting for is Saturday April
22nd, of course you remembered
this is the Royal Canadian Legion
Branch 540 sponsored minor
hockey dance, the music is being
supplied by Clare Stanley. Keep
this date open now — support the
dance and thus support minor
hockey for your children,
Wow are those Lucan Jiderton
Jets ever travellin' We know you
support their home games - how
about supporting their away from
home games - Know for sure it
would be appreciated by the
players and will give them that
little extra confidence to know
that you are right Mete at the
games rooting for them. Go Jet's
Got!
Another date to remember is
Saturday, April 15. Registration
starts at 11:30 a.m. with play
commencing at 12:00 noon.
Remember there is $250.00 in
prize money to be won and our
friends of Labatt's will be
presenting awards. Following
darts there will be an evening of
dancing and comradeship - so for
a day of fun and games it's
Branch 540, Lucan on Saturday
April 15, where you can always
find action and comradeship is
the byword.
and that's 30 for this week,
Remember: Lots of girls can be
had for a song. Unfortunately it
often turns out to be the wedding
march.
