The Exeter Times-Advocate, 1972-04-06, Page 17One of Exeter's oldest buildings was torn down this week. A barn on the property of Louis Day, directly
back of Gunn's Hardware and Chainway store was demolished this week by Lorne Becker Construction
of Dashwood. The barn was originally built on the Davis family farm and split by Mr. Day's father and
moved to the present location. The beams shown in the picture below were of 14 inch pine hand hewn.
Material in the building was of no further value and was taken to the dump. Mr. Day said he is going to
fence the property for his own use. T-A photo

HOME FOR HOLIDAY
In his monthly report to Exeter
council, Police Chief Ted Day
reported the local cruiser had
travelled 2,114 miles during
March.
He said the cruiser had made
several trips to Goderich, London
and one to Toronto, the latter
being to take an Exeter youth to
the House of Concord where he
had been sentenced following last
week's court session.
The police department's
eagerness to get Robin E. Lee to
the correctional home was not
matched by an eagerness by the
directors of the home to keep him
there.
Chief Day reported the youth
was home for the Easter
weekend holiday, having spent
only two days in the home before
his first absence was granted.
