The Jets blanked the Merlands 4 - 0 in Ingersoll Friday night and came back to the Huron Park arena Sunday afternoon to gain a 4 - 2 decision to lead the best-of- ceven series two ,games to one. The final goal of the game came on a power play midway aweigh the third period with Nairn scoring on a pass from Doug Galloway, The Jets win in the second game of the series to square things at a game apiece came on a solid team effort by every member of the club. Lorne Daer in the nets for the Jets came up with an excellent effort to gain the shut-out. The L-I club wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as the Bourne brothers teamed up at 2.23 of the opening period, It was 13111 scoring on a slap shot after taking a pass from Terry, The only goal of the second period came on a three-way passing effort, Doug Galloway and Ron Cauduro started things off by getting the puck up to Terry Bourne who broke free at the blueline slid the puck through the last defender's skates and waltzed into score. In the third period, Jack Nairn scored with assists going to Pete Loveless and Bill Dunnell and Bob Knack registered with passing help from Dunnell, with the fifth slated for the Huron Park arena, Friday night at 8.15. If a fifth is necessary the two teams go back to Ingersoll Sunday afternoon. Winner in Second After the two teams each scored a pair of goals in the first period, the Jets ensured the win with single goals in the second and third sessions. The Marlands were first to hit the Scoreboard with Tom Murphy counting at, 1.30 on a power play. The Jets tied the count minutes later when Jamie Robb come pleted a three-way passing play with Steve Proctor and Ron Cauduro. Dave Cussons put Ingersoll back in front again before another good passing play put the L-1 club back on even terms. This time it was Dick Doughty finishing off a play started by Walt Parkinson and Bill Dunnell. Darrell Preszcator scored all the goals for Bruins as he scored 5 goals quite a feat for play-off. The only goal the Black Hawks were able to score came from the stick of Paul Pooley. Baracudas and Mustangs were all tied up at the end of the ga.eie with two goals each. After on, overtime period, the score still tied at 2 all; penalty shots were used to get a winner in the second round of penalty shots, Paul Van Gerwen scored to give Mustangs the victory. The final series will see Bruins and Mustangs battle it out in a two-of-three series with the first game, Saturday at 2 p.m. The Novice team have tied that best, of five series with Petrolia one game each with a 3 to 2 win here last Sunday. The fourth game of the series will be played here Sunday after the Hawk game possibly 5 to 5:30 p.m. The Hawks are playing Fergus in a best of seven series with the fourth game here on Sunday at 2 p.m. The final games in houseleague. hockey will be played on Sat. April 8. This date will see the end of hockey for this season. We still have winners to declare in novice and pee wee by that date. For the next two Saturdays from 9 to 10 a,m, we will have Boston anceMontreal plus some of the players from the Mite team, this will give them some ex- perience in novice hockey, which they move into next year. In pee wee, Baracudas and Black Hawks will play a con- solation series from 1 to 2 p.m. In the first game of a two out of three final in novice hockey Vancouver white washed New York 5 to 0. David Atthill had the "Hat Trick" with Danny Bell adding two goals for the victory. COAT sports completed The 1971-72 hockey season for C.C.A.T, ended with possibly the most sought after victory of the year when they beat Ridgetown College of Agricultural Technology by a score of 5 to 1, During the first period neither team scored with C.C.A.T. outshooting R.C.A.T. by 3 shots. The second period opened and the aints scored first, scored by ike O'Neil - unassisted. R,C.A.T. then answered on a pcever play, their only goal for the night. The remainder of the C.C.A.T. goals were scored by Number 18, Bruce Corrigan. Ridgetown had 39 minutes in penalty, a 2 game misconducts. C.C.A.T. had 43 minutes. After the game,. C.C.A.T. students council hosted the R.C.A.T. team and fans to a social hour with coffee and doughnuts. The Broomball team, which walked away with Seaforth league championship on Thur- sday night, had an excellent win- loss ratio with 16 wins and 2 lusts and tied 2 games for the season including play-offs. Hugh Van Bout, in goal, recorded 12 shut- outs suring the season. This is the first year that the College has entered a team in any broomball league and promises to show and achieve even higher goals. Juveniles lead in Rec finals The Juveniles scored a decisive 10 - 3 win over the Bank Boys Thursday night at the Exeter arena to take the first game in the Exeter and district Rec hockey league finals. The second game in the best-of- three series will be played tonight, Thursday at seven o'clock. Gary Parsons went on a scoring spree, netting six goals to lead the Juveniles scoring attack. Rick McDonald was next in line with a hat trick performance while Jim McDonald added a lone counter, Paul Mason, Bill Farquhar and Pete Mason each scored once to account for the Bank Boys scoring total. FACTORY CASH LIST DOOR PRICE Dart battle continues The already hotly contested battle for first place in the Exeter Legion mixed dart league is really warming up with only four weeks remaining in the regular schedule. The BJ's hold down first spot with a season point total of 86, but the Dark Angels , and Sharp- shooters are deadlocked for second position, only one point behind the leaders. The Doublers are fourth with 81. Duff Rothbauer has increased his leading games won total to 41 to lead in the men's department while Barb Hearn has 24 vic- tories, best for the ladies.
