McAllister welcomed members and guests. Members reported on visits made to sick and shut-ins. A motion was made to renew membership in the Association for the Retarded, Mrs. G, Coleman chaired the programme which opened with Mrs. C. Payne leading in a selection of Irish songs ac- companied by Miss Greta Lammie, Tony Kyle entertained the members with his prize winning entry in the Public Speaking Carmel COC The C.O.C. of Carmel Presbyterian Church held their meeting at the Church Sunday morning. The C.O.C. motto was repeated and the roll call of seven was answered by giving a sign of spring. The offering was taken by Danny Reid, Mrs. Robert Taylor Contest which he won at S.H.D.H.S. Mrs. Bev. Beaton introduced the guest speaker, Cliff Britton, who gave an interesting view of Citizenship-its growth and development from pioneer days. Courtesy remarks were made by Mrs. E. Riley. Before closing Mrs. J. McAllister conducted an auction sale. offered a prayer. A discussion on the structure and the animals of Africa was held. Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle and Bill attended the funeral of their cousin, the late Harold Bell, last Thursday at the Needham Funeral Home, London. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Sangster and Brad were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Jack Peebles and family in London. Mrs, Henry Adkins was taken to South Huron Hospital by ambulance this week for treat- ment. Stan Tudor who has been a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital London was transferred to South Huron Hospital, Exeter, this week. Mrs. Pearl Passmore spent the weekend visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Ron Passmore and family, London and while there attended the Knights and Hamilton hockey game in the Gardens. Carmel Presbyterian Explorers Carmel Presbyterian Church Explorers metSunday morning at the Church. The roll call was answered by eight members. Four children presented their scrap books on Africa, with Bruce Thompson having made an excellent start on his, The Congo and Ghana flags were drawn. Everyone danced around the table African style. Kinette Club Meeting The Hensall Kinettes held their March 8 meeting at the home of Mrs. Murray Baker. Guest for the evening was Mrs. Jim Stan. A donation was made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, The Kinettes have been busy preparing for Interclub, which they are hosting for District 1, Zone B, in April of this year. Mrs, Ron Wareing won the raffle. Lady's mother dies March 11, 1972, at Deerlake, Newfoundland, Mrs. Kenneth Campbell, passed away in her 78th year. Surviving is a large family, some of whom are residing In Newfoundland, and others in and around the Toronto area. A daughter Mrs. Eric (Shirley) Luther lives in Hensall. Mrs. Luther left March 4 to go to Newfoundland, and expects to returnFriday.The funeral service was held Monday with burial made in Newfoundland. Unit I, UCW met Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Don Joynt presiding. Her devotional entitled "Genuine Brotherhood", was written by the famous Indian Chief, Dan George. A vocal solo • entitled "My Jesus I Love Thee", was sung by Mrs. George Hess accompanied at the piano by Mrs, Albert Shirray, The roll call was answered with 10 present and two visitors. It was announced that the Spring Thaw Supper will be held April 5. Mrs. Harvey Keys gave the study on Angola, and also the story of Dr. Sid Gilchrist, a doctor who worked in Angola. Mrs. Audrey Christie was hostess for a social hour get- together. Unit 2 U.C.W. A film on Africa called "Sing to the Glory of Africa," highlighted the March meeting of Unit II Monday evening. Games, humorous readings by Mrs. H. Caldwell, silent skit, singsong and lively square dances with Irish costumes were enjoyed. a Those having birthdays in March were presented with a gift by the Hospital Auxiliary. Lunch was served. Mrs. Wm Bell and Mrs. James Drummond were in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Ross Broadfoot acted as accompanist. • Personals Michael Binnendyk, son of Mr. & Mrs. Hank Binnendyk returned from Seaforth Community Hospital following an ap- pendectomy. Mr. & Mrs. Ted Robinson at- tended the funeral of an aunt in Chatham. Wm McGregor returned from hospital last weekend. v. Venner chose this film as her study. The roll call, 'Did you know,' was answered by 14 members. Mrs. Julie Brodie acted as chairlady for the meeting and read a poem entitled "Hap- piness." Mrs. Elva Forrest, for her devotional chose an article from the local newspaper called "Genuine Brotherhood," written by the well known and famous Indian Chief Dan George. It was announced that the April meeting will be a thank offering meeting with the special guest speaker to be Dr. Moyo from Seaforth. It was suggested that each member bring a guest along. Unit II are responsible to put flowers in the church for the month of April. Volunteers were asked for, to help with the Spring Thaw Supper to be held April 5. Mrs. Brodie read an article called "Recycling trash begins in the kitchen," which was very interesting. Mrs. Ella Drysdale as hostess, and her assistants served a delicious lunch. W.M.S. meet The March meeting of the W.M.S. of Carmel Presbyterian Church was held Wednesday and opened with a poem by Mrs. Gordon Schwalm. The dovotional was taken by Mrs. Malcolm Dougall and Mrs.-Pearl—Love. Mrs. Dougall gave a poem followed by prayer. A chapter from the Study book on Africa was presented and the roll call was answered by "Some Signs of Spring." Mrs. A. Orr gave a prayer from the Glad Tidings and Mrs. Edith Bell a reading from the Presbyterian Record. The members are to conduct crafts at the Queensway Nursing Home during the month of April. Mrs. Clarence Volland and Mrs. Esther Wright are in charge of the Easter thank-offering meeting to be held April 10 when Rev. Chan of Thedford will be the guest speaker. Following the meeting Mrs. Grace McEwen and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm narrated their trip to the Barbadoes and showed many souvenirs. A.C.W. The regular meeting of the A.C.W. of St. Paul's Anglican Church was held at the home of Mrs. D. Windover, The president, Mrs. Scrabuik, opened the meeting with the members prayer. Devotions were taken from the Living Message, Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. G.A. Anderson, and prayers were offered by Mrs, Windover and Mrs. F. Forrest. The roll call was answered by a Bible verse having the word "Love" in it. The study book was taken by Mrs. Forrest. Mrs. Anderson read about the life of St. Patrick, Conveners were appointed for the smorgasbord to be held May 6. Plans were made for the 95th anniversary of the Church, which will be held May 28. A donation of $100 was made to the General Account of the Church. Mrs. Anderson closed the meeting with prayer. Auxiliary plans penny sale Hensall Legion Ladies met for their March meeting in the Legion Hall, with president, Mrs. Irene Davis presiding. A donation of $10 was made to the Salvation Army, Plans were made for the Annual Penny sale to be held the first week in June. Members decided to cater to a wedding and a Men's Bonspiel. An invitation was accepted to a birthday party at the Seaforth Legion Ladies Auxiliary, April 19. For the April meeting, the Zone Commander, Mrs. Evelyn Caroll, will be visiting, and also a penny sale will be held with each member to bring two or more articles. Sports Officer, Mrs. Iva Reid announced there will be a bowling tournament in Goderich April 26, and a Zone card party in Exeter, March 29. Mrs. Martha Rooseboom won the mystery prize, and the at- tendance draw. Mrs. Mary Bisback won the guessing prize.
