Devotions were led by Mrs, Jefferson with scripture lesson read in unison. Mrs. Charles Douglas in- troduced the study book on Africa and Mrs, T.L. Scott, Mrs, Calder McKaig And Mrs. Douglas conducted a patiel discussion. For the topic each member read an article dealing with the subject Africa. Miss Olive Speare conducted a Bible quizz and hostess, Mrs, Grace Scott served lunch at the close of the meeting, Owing to the inclemency of the weather the Cromarty church service on Sunday was cancelled. Schenk Leonard Russell Schenk died at South Huron Hospital, February 23, 1972 in his 54th year. He was the husband of the former Rosaleen Miller and father of Mrs. Gary (Mary Lou) Hambrick, Waterloo, Mrs, Robert (Marjorie) Green, Huron Park and Jack of Huron Park. He is also survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. M. W. Schenk of Walkerton and his sister, Mrs. Walter Wiseman, of Mildmay and breothers, Howard, Douglas and Lester all of Walkerton, and three grand- children. The funeral was held at the T. Harry Hoffman Funeral Home February 26, with interment in Dashwood Lutheran cemetery. Rev. E. Steinman officiated. However, county council amended the budget to provide for fees of $40 each as previously set when the Land Division committee went into action. The committee expressed its concern at the amount of work that is involved with each ap- plication and more particularly, that it is taking a considerable amount of time to complete applications in connection with the consents. Reeve Elgin Thompson, Tuckersmith, said that he could understand the $50 fee providing the severance was approved. Reeve Ed Oddleifson, Hayfield, said that all applications required considerable work whether they were approved or not. He said that if the ap- plications were rejected by the committee, the land owner had other alternatives — appeal to the Minister or to the Ontario Municipal Board, However, the majority of councillors agreed that the fee should not be increased from $40 to $50 — and an amendment to the report was approved. MRS. FRED BOWDEN Senior citizens met in the Community Centre Monday for an afternoon of cards and crokinole. The lunch provided by the senior citizens, was served by members of the U.C.W. who sponsor the get-together. 4-H March 2 the Clandeboye No. III, 4-H girls met at the home of Mrs. Klara DeJong with seven girls attending. Zippers and a new method for finishing with elastic was demonstrated, Sportswear with knits is the project and some girls have one section of their garment com- pleted. The Land Division committee budget will require some juggling now that members of Huron County Council have approved their proposed operation for 1972 but has cut revenue by about $6,000.
