First Cromarty Boy Scouts and
Wolf Cubs held their annual
father and son banquet in
Cromarty church, Tuesday
evening.
More than eighty boys and
fathers sat down to dinner which
was served by the mothers under
the convenership of Mrs. Alex
Miller.
Head table guests included
Scoutmaster W. Jarvis, who was
chairman for the evening; James
Jarvis; Carlyle Meikle,
representative of the group
committee; Larry McIntosh,
president of Perth District Boy
Scout organization and Thomas
L. Scott representative of the
session of the church.
The toast to the fathers was
given by Stanley Christie and his
father Calvin Christie, replied.
A toast to Lord Baden Powell,
founder of world scouting, was
proposed by Rev. Jarvis,'
Following the banquet films on
pollution were shown.
Evening Auxiliary
The Marian Ritchie Evening
Auxiliary met at the home of
president Mrs, Larry Gardiner.
Mrs, John Templeman presided
and opened the meeting with a
valentine reading.
Mrs. Charles Douglas in-
troduced the study book on the
new generation in Africa and
Mt's. John Miller gave the topic,
"A Plea for Prayer from
Rhodesia."
A contest on an old fashioned
dinner was led by Mrs. Ivan
Norris. The remainder of the
afternoon was spent quilting.

returned home Tuesday after a
few weeks holidays in Florida.
Mr. & Mres. Earl Eggert of
Rostock visited Sunday with Mr.
& Mrs. Alex Gardiner.
Alex Ramsey has returned
home from Westminster
Hospital, London, where he was
confined for a couple of months.
His health is much improved.
Mrs. J. R. Jefferson visited

daughter, Mrs. Bruce Cleland in

Christie, Cromarty, was guest
speaker at the international
meeting of the Staffa Womeris
Institute held in the township hall
last week.
Mrs. Christie showed in-
teresting slides and told the
highlights of her and her
husband's trip to Australia and
New Zealand. She also had on
display many interesting
souvenirs.

The UCW of St. Andrew's
Church, Kippen, met at the home
of Mrs. Arie Binnendyk,
February 23.
Mrs. Percy Wright opened the
meetingand conducted the
devotional, the theme of which
was, "Self Control."
The president, Mrs, Wm Bell,
conducted the business portion of
the meeting and gave a reading,
"Let kindness and love be our
watchword and guide." Reports
were given by Mrs. Laird
Finlayson, Mrs. Ken McLellan,
and Mrs. Harold Jones.
The roll call was a Bible verse
with the word, "Love" in it.

A family gathering was held in
Centralia Community Centre
Friday night in honor of Miss
May Skinner who was
celebrating a birthday.
Fifty relatives from St. Marys,
Centralia, Belgrave, Exeter and
Huntsville attended, The evening
was spent in cards and music
followed by lunch which included
a decorated cake.
Among the guests were Mr. &
Mrs. Sam Skinner, Mr. & Mrs.
Neil McAllister, Mr. & Mrs. John
McAllister and Mrs. Vera
McFalls.

Mr. & Mrs. Allan Elston at-
tended the funeral of the latter's
grandmother, the late Mrs.
Catherine Elizabeth Gibson, of
Coldstream recently. February

who has been a patient in St.

Staffa Women's Institute held a
successful progressive euchre
party in the township hall

The Staffa 'Decorators
Incorporated' held the third
meeting of their club,
Accessories for the Bedroom, at
the home of their leader Mrs,
William Butson, February 18.
All members were present and
answered the roll call by saying
what they were making for their
bedrooms. The meeting was
spent making samples for their
books.
They completed the bias tube,
invisible hemstitch and corded
bias piping.
Meeting IV was held Saturday
afternoon with 12 girls present.
Roll call was answered by what
have you rearranged in your
room.
Plans were discussed for
achievement day. Samples were
made of the mitred corner, plain
and trimmed.
The trip to London to the Ice
Capades was discussed.

enjoyed an evening of
snowmobiling Saturday and
returned to the basement of the
church for refreshments and a
social time, Over thirty young
people attended the party,
Rev. J, Beaton held the first of
a series of communicant classes
in the Centralia church Sunday
afternoon. Next week's class will
be held in the Zion West church.
Mrs, J, T. Beaton will be the
speaker in the Zion West United
Church Friday evening when the
ladies from Centralia will join the
Zion ladies in observing the
World Day of Prayer.
Senior Citizens are reminded of
the meeting in the Community
Centre Monday afternoon. The
ladies will provide the lunch.

Arkona, Sunday.
Mr. & Mrs. Ray Shoebottom
visited over the weekend with his
parents in Parry Sound.

dinner party in London on Sunday
in celebration of the 40th wedding
anniversary of his brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Cliff
Abbott of Lucan.
Dan Shoebottom, a student at
the Sir Sanford Fleming College
in Lindsay is spending the mid-
term vacation with his parents,
