The undefeated streak of the
Lucan-Ildertoa Jets which had
reached25 games came to an end
in Strathroy Saturday night when
the Tri-County all-stars came up
with a 5-3 decision.
It was the second time the two
teams had faced each other. The
first time out, at the Huron Park
arena, the two clubs played tea 5-
5 tie.
Tom Woodiwiss fired what
proved to be the winning goal at
16.45 of the third period for the
all-stars and Jim Crawford with a
Sharpshooters
lengthen lead
The Sharpshooters have
lengthened their first place lead
in the Exeter Legion mixed dart
league to two points over the
second place BJ's.
The league leaders have 76
points to their credit while the
BJ's have 74. The Dark Angels
are in sole possession of third
spot with 70 points while the Late
Niters follow in fourth with 67
points.

their league leading individual
win totals of 32 and 22, respec-
tively.

only 33 seconds to ensure the
victory.
The Jets held a 2-1 lead after
the first twenty minutes of play
and the all stars came back to
gain the same margin in the
second period to put the two clubs
on even terms at 3-3.
Terry Bourne was quick to
open the scoring for the Jets
taking a pass from Bob Knack
and blinking the light behind the
all-stars net at the 2.55 mark.
Brian Carroll tied the score
near the halfway mark and two
minutes later Dick Doughty put
the Jets back in front on a pass
from Bill Bourne,
Jim Crawford evened the count
at 2-2 before one minute had
elapsed in the middle frame. Pete
Loveless counted for the Jets and
Al Coppard for the all-stars in the
balance of the period.
The Jets were without seven of
their regular performers.
Missing from the line-up were
Steve Storey, Ron Cauduro, Bill
Dunnell, Steve Proctor, Jamie
Robb, Walt Parkinson and
Jacques Cousineau.
The Lucan-Ilderton club will be
travelling to Erie, Pennsylvania
Friday to meet the Erie Lions in a
two game series, Friday and
Saturday nights.
In a previous visit earlier in the
season, the same two teams
played to a deadlock,
Manager Don Urbshott of the
Jets said this week that he ex-
pected OHA playoffs would start
at the Huron Park arena on
March 10 with Point Edward

Last week I had no inquiries on
crafts, it would appear as though
we have the craft situation well in
hand in this area by the number
of replies received over the last
four or five weeks. But in case
there are still interested persons
call 235-2833.
Hoeseleague hockey swings
into action this Saturday after a
lapse of one week due to the
carnival. Novice and pee wee
teams will start play-offs and all
series will be two-out-of-three,
Montreal plays New York and
Boston plays Vancouver in
Novice. Black Hawks vs Bruins
and Mustangs vs Baracudas in
pee wee and may the best teams
win,
Although the pee wee , bantam
and midget all-star teams have
been eliminated from further
O.M.H.A. play we still have the
Shamrock play-offs to complete.
The pee wee's are in a round
robin series with Lambeth and
Lucan. The Bantams are also in a
round robin with Dorchester and
Huron Park, The Midget series
comprises Huron Park, Lucan
and Exeter, As you can see we
still have quite a few games to
play and all home games are on
Wednesday nights from 7 to 10
p.m, Try and take in a few of
these games.
The novice Bronco's have
eliminated Goderich in the first
round of O.M.H.A. play-offs and
are awaiting the next opponent.
The Hawks will be playing
Belmont in a 4 out of 7 series with
games here on March 5, 10 and 14
if necessary. The winner of this
series will play the winner of the
Southern Jr. D, league, possibly
Caledonia.
The Rec League start play-offs
Thursday with Newby Tire and
Juveniles in the first game and
Bank Boys and Vikings in the
second game in a two out of three
series,
Monday March 6 the Rec
League all-stars will play the

The figure skating carnival
was very successful and possibly
the best we have had here at
Exeter, The executive of the club
and instructors deserve a great
deal of credit for the success Of
the carnival,

The senior boys 'and girls
skated in costumes depicting the
Gold Rush, a Polar Bear Hunt,
Life at the North Pole and the
Aurora Borealis.
Each of the more than 150
members of the club from
Exeter, Hensall, Dashwood,
Credi ton and surrounding areas
appeared in at least one number
during the evening.
In addition to directing the
entire show, club pro Brad
Loosley combined with Jay
Witherspoon of Woodstock to
provide an entertaining few
minutes in a comedy skating
routine.
The guest skater was Julie
Bowerman of Woodstock, now
skating out of the Cricket club in
Toronto,
The honor of travelling the
longest distance to appear in the
show went to Santa Claus who
made the trip from the North
Pole. He was actually a former
member of the local skating club,
Fred Elder who flew in from the
north by way of Hensall,
Jack Underwood is president of
the Exeter figure skating club'.
The treasurer is Louise Pincombe
while Ann Prout handles the
secretarial duties. Others on the
executive are Mary Holtzman,
Dolores Fuller, Karen Pfaff and
Flo Underwood,
Gerry Finnen was master of
ceremonies for the carnival.
