McDonald 9— A.Etherington 5 Bantams get win • in first playoff The Exeter bantams scored a 10-2 win over Dorchester Tuesday night in the first game of a round robin series in Shamrock minor league playoffs. Brian Taylor spearheaded the Exeter attack with a three goal effort while Randy Regier checked in with a pair of suc- cessful shots. Single goals were added by Ken Pinder, Dave Regier, Brad Roelofson, Steve Schroeder and Larry Clarke. A friend is one who takes you to lunch, even though you are non-deductible. At middle ages your tripping becomes less light and more fantastic. Pee wees win in exhibition play In a pee wee exhibition hockey game, Sunday, Exeter trounced Clinton by a 10-4 count. Paul Pooley was the top Exeter goal producer with a three goal performance. Derek Regier and Brian Clarke each checked in with two goals while singles were fired by Eugene Clarke, Bill Datars and Darrell Preszcator, Scoring for Clinton were Taylor, Jones, Heard and Thompson. Larry Tomchilt cut the Lucan- Ilderton lead to single goal near the end of the period on a penalty shot which came when Jet defencernan Barry Baynham threw his stick at the puck carrier. Near the six minute mark of the final period, Alex McEachren scored for Strathroy to even the count at 4-4. Bob Knack was back quickly with two successful shots to put the Jets back in front 6-4, This lead was short-lived as Jim Crawford counted two goals, the final coming at 16.39 to give each team a single point for their night's work. In an exhibition contest, the Jets and a bolstered Strathroy Jets club played to a 6-6 draw. The Strathroy team with two players from. Watford and four from Petrolia including former Exeter junior star Bill Fairbairn came on with two goals late in the third period to get the tie, The Lucan-Ilderton club now has an unbeaten season record of 25 wins to go with two draws in 27 starts. The same two clubs meet back in Strathroy Saturday night. The L-I Jets waiting for OHA playoff opposition will travel to Erie, Pennsylvania for a two game series with the Erie Lions on March 3 and 4. In Saturday's game against Steathroy , the Jets moved out in front quickly with three goals in the first period. Bob Knack, a newcomer to the Jets line-up from Harmony opened the scoring at 5.30 with his club a man short and before the period was over Jacques Cousineau and playing coach Jack Nairn had upped the L-I lead to three goals, Early in the second session, Horn of Plenty Chicken Take-Out Phone 235-1913 Sharpshooters back on top The Sharpshooters with a four point performance Friday night moved back into first place in the Exeter Legion mixed dart league. The Sharpshooters now have a season point total of 71, one more than the second place BJ's. The Dark Angels and Late Niters continue in a deadlock for third position with 65 points apiece. Duff Rothbauer and Barb Hearn continue to lead in the games won department with 31 and 21 victories, respectively. The regular season schedule of houseleague hockey ended last Sat and now comes the play-offs. New York defeated Vancouver 3 - I on a "hat trick" by Butch Mattucci with the lone Vancouver goal scored by Doug Luxton. Boston was handed their second defeat of the season by a whopper of a score 8 - 1. Dave Robinson was the scoring leader with his "hat trick" followed by Phillips McLeod with two goals and Doug Fletcher, Peter Martene and John Wildfong scoring one each. The only goal by Boston was fired by Steven Willis, Black Hawks defeated Baracudas 4 - 3. Fred Robinson with two goals and singles by Bill Datars and Paul Pooley, took care of the scoring for the Hawks. llaracuda marksmen were Brad Taylor with a pair and Steven Baynham with a single. Mustangs defeated Bruins 4 - 3. Brian Morrell scored 2 goals and Brian Clarke and Jim Veri added singles for the Mustangs. Randy Parsons with two and Darrell Preszcator with one were goal getters for the Bruins. Final houseleague standings Pee Wee captains of the various teams to call their players and have them all out for the play-offs. The big event for the Exeter Figure Skating Club is their annual carnival. This years production is called, "This Land is your Land" and costumes will depict various areas and customs of this great land of ours. For a full evening of live entertainment Saturday February 26 at 8 p.m. Come early to be assured of a good seat, One other event worth men- tioning is a hockey game between our Rec League all-stars and the Centralia College team at Huron Park, Arena, Monday March 6 at 7 p.m. with all proceeds to Bunny Bundle. Perhaps I should list some of the crafts again that we expect to have — pottery, wood and clay sculpture, weaving, rock polishing, woodworking, leather craft, photography to name a few. If interested call the Arena 235- 2833 and leave your name. There will be no minor hockey this Saturday but play will resume next Saturday March 4. Play-offs start then with Boston vs Vancouver and Montreal vs New York in the first round of a 2 out of 3 series in novice hockey. In Pee Wee action its Black Hawks vs Bruins and Mustangs vs Baracudas in a 2 out of 3 series in the first round play-offs. I would like to urge coaches and Price The Exeter Broncos are all even with Goderich in the first round of Ontario Minor Hockey Association Novice "B" playoffs with the third and final game slated for the Goderich arena, Saturday night. After winning the first game quite handily 8 - 1 in Exeter Wednesday night, the Broncos suffered a 2 - 1 defeat in Goderich, Tuesday, Dave Bogart was the only goal getter for the Broncos in the Tuesday loss to Goderich. Three unanswered goals in the first period sent the Exeter club on the way to the win over Goderich in the first game. Dan Bell scored twice in the first period and assisted on a successful shot by Steve Skinner. The first Bell was on an unassisted effort while the second came on a pass from Dave Bogart. In the second session, the Exeter goal output was again three. Steve Skinner scored on a pass from Brian Mercer. Doug Brooks set up Wayne Parsons for a goal and Mercer notched the sixth goal of the game with help from Bell. Goderich scored their only goal early in the third period and Wayne Parsons and Steve Skinner finished up the Exeter counting. The Parsons score was on a solo effort while Dave Atthill helped on the Skinner goal. Doug Hoffman and Steve Wells shared the Exeter goal tending duties and both turned in solid performances. .4161*.
