Emery attended the euchre at Elmville Monday night with Mr. Emery winning the high score. Mrs. Margaret Hastings and Johnnie visited with her mother Mrs. T. Chisholm Sweetheart at Sunshine Mr, & Mrs. Gary Revington are home from their vacation in Florida of two weeks. While there they visited Disney World, Cape Kennedy and other places of .interest, Mrs. Earle Younge, Lucan, Mrs. Edna Burnett, Toronto, and Mr, & Mrs. Bob Caughlin have returned home after three weeks in Florida. They report the weather was beautiful with temperature in high 70 degrees and low 80 degrees. They also enjoyed Disney World very much. Mrs, George Garton, Tillsonburg and Glenn Johnson, Belmont were guests of Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Kennedy, Tuesday. Mr. & Mrs. Gary McFalls and Mr, & Mrs, Glen Nevin are vacationing in Florida for two weeks. Doug Scott, Kim and Barb, Thornhill, spent Saturday with Alan Scott. They also visited his mother, Mrs. Alice Scott, Strath- mere Lodge. visited with Mrs. C. Fischer the beginning of the week. Mr. & Mrs. Ray Fischer spent Sunday with Mrs. C. Fischer. Mr. & Mrs, Lawrence Grace of Tillsonburg visited Miss Line Abbott Saturday night. Mr. & Mrs. Howard Cranston and the latter's mother are all down with the flu and now have a nurse in attendance. Mr. & Mrs. John Park left Friday for a month's vacation in Florida. Mr. & Mrs. Archie Sinclair were Wednesday guests of Mr, & Mrs. Cliff Abbott, the latter visited with Mrs. Clair Abbott, Centralia, Sunday, Janice Hindmarsh, visited with her uncle and aunt, Mr. & Mrs. Dan Hotson, Windsor, Friday night. Miss Hindmarsh, groom for Roy Campbell's horses . was attending Windsor races. Get damages from crash By SID DALEY Branch 540 takes this op- portunity to thank all those who took the time to attend 'public speaking' on Friday night, your response was terrific' and I feel you will agree with me when I say it was an evening well spent, The calibre of the speeches and the speakers were the best I have heard and seen in a good many years, Thanks for participating kids, to the winners our congratualtions — while to the losers we say don't give up, remember there will be another competition next year and who knows . . . Our annual St. Valentine dance is now past and we must say it was most successful, the ladies certainly took advantage of their prerogative, leap year and all competition with Ross Haugh's column as I find quite a variety of sports will be taking place in the immediate future. The District 'A' Shuffle Board Competitions will be, hosted by Branch 367, Thamesville on Saturday, February 19 with the three top teams representing District A in the provincial play- downs in Toronto on Saturday March 18. Our comrades of Exeter will be holding their 9th annual mixed darts on Saturday March 18, commencing at 11.00 a.m. sharp — We trust a goodly number of 540's experts will participate and show our good Comrades ' of Exeter the finer points of the game, The 1972 District 'A' sports spring meeting will be held at Branch 28, Chatham Sunday, March 5th, 1972 at 1.30 p.m. All interested Sports Minded — Please turn to page 17 that you know, why, even I was asked to dance. By this we mean no ticket sales at the door, advance sales only — If you are interested — see the branch stewards — and the wind- up of the evening will be a generous serving of Irish Stew, what else. I fear this comment will run in Edward Pudney, RR 2, Granton, and his wife, Jacqueline Pudney, injured in a car crash, May 26 at the Ilderton Road, were awarded damages totalling more than $12,500 by Justice W. A. Donahue of Ontario Supreme Court. They were passengers in a car driven by Paul Uchiyama who was awarded $200 general damages and $775 special damages. The second car involved was owned by both F. Robson, Ilderton and J. Powell, Granton. They were found liable for the damages and A, Bradshaw, RR 3, Thorndale liable as driver, Orangemen stage another euchre The Orangemans euchre party was held in the orangeman's hall, Lucan Tuesday night. Millie Mathers won the ladies high; Joe Carter, the men's high; Mrs. R. Pepper won the lone hands for the ladies and Mr. T, Emery for the men, Mrs. Evan Hodgins playing a mans card was low score for the men and Mrs. Joe Carter for the ladies. The box of groceries was won by Fred Culbert. Seven tables of cards were played and the next party will be in two weeks. The Sunshine Club met Thursday afternoon in the Lucan Masonic Hall with 21 members present and Mrs. H. Bond Sr. presiding, Mrs. T. Emery Sr. social convener, planned a Valentine party. Ben Kelly was elected King of Hearts; Mrs. Laura Toohey, Queen of Hearts; Prince, Fred Mcllhargey; Princess, Mrs. Lillian King. Valentine sweetheart for the day was Margaret Kelly and she was presented with a bouquet of red roses. Euchre was played after which a social hour with games was enjoyed with scrambled word winners being Mrs. F. Joliffe, Mrs. H. Bond Sr. and Margaret Kelly. Margaret Kelly was also winner of the hot potato game. A jar of candy hearts was won by Clarence Rogers for guessing the number of hearts in the jar. Meeting was adjourned with a vote of thanks to Mrs. Emery for the gala Valentine party, Lunch was given by Mrs. T. Lamphere and Mrs. Blanche Haskett.
