T-A photo UCW The U.C.W. held their February meeting Thursday afternoon in Zion United Church, The program, the theme of which was IVIomentous Decisions, was under the direction of Mrs. Douglas Warren, Mrs. Edmond Hendrick, Mrs. Ross Krueger and Mrs. Robert Bushfield, Mrs. Warren chaired the meeting and led in prayer. Mrs. Hendrick read the Scripture and told the story of Hannah's decision. Mrs. Bushfield gave the decision of Mary and Martha, and Mrs,Krueger that of Lydia. Mrs. Lloyd Hey and Mrs. Lloyd Roeszler sang, with Mrs,Gordon Finkbeiner accompanying them and Mrs. Warren conducted a Bible study. The president, Mrs. Alvin Finkbeiner conducted the business. There was a request for white cotton material to make bandages, and for used stamps. Roll call was answered by a verse on love. 4-H The members of the 4-H have been organized into four clubs for the term project, 'Sleep Wear'. Lorne Luther extended a welcome to interested members to a workshop held in Mitchell on February 3, explaining the many work-shops previous to this one and introduced on stage the new executive who each spoke briefly. The new president spoke on the declining prices especially in the hog and poultry industries and asked the past executive to stand and thanked all for their hard work during the past term and hoped they would also assist him during the coming year. Mrs. Emery Desjardine read an article entitled "The Ten Commandments of Human Relations." Mrs. C. Reeves played, 0 Canada, and John Browns Body, the group joining in and singing, Mr. & Mrs. Alex Hamilton provided the program by showing slides of their trip to the West Coast. A short business period followed conducted by president, Wm. Love. Mrs. Max Turnbull and Mrs. C. Reeves volunteered for the lunch for the March meeting, Mrs. Leroy Bariteau and Mrs. Elgin Webb responsible for program. Lunch was served. Mr. Love using a poem written by Robert Burns for the blessing. A good time was had by all, 4-H The 4-H girls met in the United Church for another work session Monday evening, their project is "Sleepwear." The girls elected a president Mary Jane Kelders and a secretary Deborah Ford. Leaders for the group are Mrs. F. Plumb, Mrs. Howard Green and Mrs. M. Venner. A discussion on, tools of a sewing box, was led by the leaders who also gave directions for using and cutting out pat- terns. Following prayer and scripture readings, Mrs. Beiglish showed two films entitled Focus on Africa and Garthe Legge Reports on Africa. These proved in- teresting and showed that the unemployment problem is similar in our own country. Mrs. Ross Brown, president took charge of the business part of the meeting, An announcement was made concerning the Huron- Perth Presbyterial meeting to be held in Stratford February 9. Secretary and treasurers reports were followed by a report from the chairman of Finance - Mrs. Lawrence Curts. A lengthy discussion arose from this report, on the many proposed projects for the year 1972, mainly the Pot Luck supper to be held in March. The ladies decided to keep the month of April in mind for visiting Green Gables Nursing Home, Eighteen answered the roll call by bringing an old valentine. Mrs. Joe Horner stewardship convener gave a reading, We Need God, Every Minute. Lunch was served by Evelyn Curts and Mrs. S. English. Personals The Willing Workers of the United Church entertained folk in their age group to a supper in the Sunday School rooms Friday evening with a view to increasing their membership. With the sick: Maurice Murray and Mrs. Joe Eagleson are patients in St. Joseph's Hospital, London; Robert Steeper is in London Psychiatric Hospital and Eldon Steeper in Strathroy Hospital. Mrs, Ken Isaac and Newton Hayter have returned to their respective homes from hospital. Mr, & Mrs. Russell Brown visited with Elzar Mousseau Sunday in the Seaforth Hospital.
