KEN McKELLAR Neighbors of Mr. & Mrs, John Chappel who were recently married, held a shivaree at their home. The evening, which in- cluded a short program and contests, was planned by Mrs. James Drummond, and Mrs. Robert Kinsman, 4-H homemakers Staffa No. II, 4-H Homemaking club held their first meeting at the home of Mrs. John Wallace with an attendance of ten girls and two leaders. Officers for this course, "Accessories for the Club Girls Bedroom," are as follows: president, Gail Harburn, vice- president; Kathy Douglas; secretary-treasurer, Cheryl Riley; assistant, Margaret Laing; press reporter, Margaret Laing; telephone girls, Debbie Wallace and Janet Kinsman. Poster committee, Cheryl Riley, Beth Hulley, Lorraine Laing; book cover committee, Gail Harburn, Janet Kinsman, Pamela Wallace. Mrs. Douglas showed the various materials suggested for the accessories and led in discussion on the importance of color, WMS Mrs. Grace Scott was hostess for the February meeting of the Women's Missionary Society of Cromarty Presbyterian church. Mrs. Calder McKaig presided and opened the meeting with a poem and a hymn. Scripture from Proverbs was read in unison followed with meditation and prayer by Mrs. McKaig. Reports were read by the secretary and the treasurer and the roll call "Joy" was answered by eight members. One visitor was present. It was announced that the Synodical will be held in Hamilton, April 11 and 12. Arrangements for the Worlds Day of Prayer, which will be held in Cromarty church, were discussed. For the topic, sketches from the Glad Tidings were read by Mrs. M. Dow, Mrs, J. Jefferson, Miss Olive Speare, Mrs. T. L. Scott. Prayer for missions was read by Mrs. M. Lamond. Each member gave current events. The offering was dedicated by Mrs. Grace Scott. Personals A quilting party was held at the home of Mrs. Roy McCulloch, Monday. At the meeting of Hibbert young people Brian Barnes of the staff of Mitchell District High School showed slides and described his travels through several countries in Europe last year. Brian Dow has been confined to his home with a severe case of tonsilitis. Mr. & Mrs. Mervin Dow, Rodger Dow, Harvey Dow, Mrs. Gerald Carey, Mr. & Mrs. John Wallace and Mr. & Mrs. John Scott took part in the curling honspiel in Mitchell recently. Mr. & Mrs, Jarries Ramsey of Moorefield accompanied by his mother Mrs. Alex Ramsey visited with his father, Alex Ramsey, who is a patient in Westminster Hospital, London, Thursday. Mr. & Mrs. Otto Walker visited a couple of days with Mr. & Mrs. Jack McGhee, London, recently. Steven and Vicki Ramsey, Moorefield, visited with Mr. & Mrs. Bill Hulley, Beth, Billy and Cathy. Mr. & Mrs. Larry Gardiner arrived at Malton airport Saturday after a weeks vacation in Florida. DASH WOOD The citizenship and education groups was in charge of the February meeting of Dashwood W.I. with Mrs, Ray Rader as convener. In honor of the 75th an- niversary of the Women's Institute, Mrs. Eben Weigand had made a cake decorated with Centralia youth conduct service Mrs. Fred Bowden The Centralia-Zion Hi C Group conducted the service in the United Church, Sunday morning. There was a young people's choir and special music for the service was provided by the Heywood boys of Exeter who sang several numbers to their accordion and guitar ac- companiment. UCW Entertains Senior Citizens Twenty-four senior citizens were entertained at an afternoon of cards and crokinole in the Community Centre, Monday, by ladies of the U.C.W. who also served lunch. It was agreed to meet again on the first Monday afternoon in March. U.C.W. meets Mrs. Jack, Essery, Mrs. Ken Hodgins and Mrs. Earl Dixon were in charge of the program for the February meeting of the U,C.W. in the schoolroom of the church Thursday evening. Mrs. Hodgins read a poem, "Valentine Wishes"; the scripture reading was given by Mrs. Dixon and an interesting story "Generation Gap" was read by Mrs. Essery. Piano solos were played by Penny Smith and Elizabeth Scott. Mrs. Beaton was the speaker giving an informative talk on her week as a social worker with emphasis on the theme, Love Conquers All. Mrs. Robert Blair presided for the business. An invitation to join Zion West for the World Day of Prayer service was accepted. May 10, was the date set for the Blossom Tea. Euchre party Mr. & Mrs. Earl Dixon, Mr. & Mrs. Otto Darling were in charge of the euchre party in the Com- munity Centre Monday night with ten tables in play. Prize winners were: ladies high, Mrs. Percy Noels, low score, Mrs. Ken Hodgins; low hands, Mrs. Jack Essery. Men's high, Percy Noels, low, George Aitkins; lone hands, Chas. Rollings. The travelling prize went to Mr. Robert Blair. Mr. & Mrs. Sam Skinner, Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Lightfoot will be in charge of the next party. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Ken Hodgins were Saturday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Keith Hodgins and family in London. Ladies from Centralia attended the shower in the Whalen Com- munity Centre Saturday night for Mrs. Anderson (the former Muriel Abbott), daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Abbott. Mr. & Mrs. Sherman Eaton and family of Chatham were weekend quests with Mr. & Mrs. John Thompson. It was agreed to serve lunch at a reception in June and to sponsor two euchre parties in February. Little Susan Hayter spent two weeks with Mr. & Mrs. Harry Sheppard, while her parents Mr. & Mrs. Allen Hayter were holidaying in the south. The east group were hostesses Friday evening for a miscellaneous shower, when friends and neighbours gathered at Shipka Community centre to honor Pauline Vincent, bride- elect of this month. Mr. & Mrs. L. Adams and Mr. & Mrs. H. Morenz visited Saturday in London with Mr. & Mrs, Harry Chapman. Mr. & Mrs. Jake Schroeder, Sue Anne, Sandra and Dennis visited Saturday evening with Mrs. Schroeder's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Archie Webber of near Exeter. Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. H. Morenz were their son Bill, and Tom Niblock of London, and Alvin Lavery of Hensall. Annual meeting at Trivitt Anglican The annual vestry meeting of Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church took place recently in the Parish Hall with the Rector George Anderson presiding. The financial statement presented by the treasuer, Miss Marion Bissett, showed a healthy credit balance. The following were appointed or elected to offices in the church for 1972: Rector's warden, Nelson Monteith; people's warden, Ralph Genttner; lay delegates to synod, Mrs. Anne Doidge, Mrs. Catherine Elston and Trent Doige; sub delegates, Mrs. Mary Carter, Miss Marion Bissett and Hugh Montgomery. Board of management, Robert Luxton, John Alderson, Les Gibson, Joseph Wooden, Mrs. Maud Connon and the synod delegates and sub delegates. Treasurer, Miss Marion Bissett; envelope secretary, Mrs. Allan Elston; vestry clerk, Miss Bissett; chief sidesmen, Louis Day and Trent Doige. It was announced that the annual Pancake Supper will take place, February 15, from 5-7:00 passed away in January. Mr. Mrs. Dixon were regular at- tenders during the summer months until ill health prevented them from doing so. Mrs. Dixon passed away in March last year. A family birthday party was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan, Sunday, when three birthdays were celebrated.
