At Hopper-Hockey, we like to think of ourselves as more than
just "salesmen". We feel it's our task to help customers plan their
decor, whether it be in adding a lamp or a picture, or running
through a complete redecorating job from wall to wall — ceiling
to floor. That's why we have expanded our services to include
most of the materials you require to do whatever project you
have in mind. You'll find a wide array of carpets, furniture and
drapes and the "little things" that add the finishing touches to
your room. We'll help you match your new carpet to your
existing furniture or pick out new drapes that will complement
your present carpet. There's really nothing magical about
decorating. But it does entail some work and having the materials
on hand to mix and match so that you know BEFORE you start
exactly what your room is going to look like when you finish. We
can bring the samples to your home, or sit down with you in our
store and help you choose your requirements. That's the way we
enjoy selling, because we know our customers are going to ,,be
satisfied and more appreciative of our assistance,
ONE STOP DOES IT ALL ....

Ever feel tempted to cheat on
your age?
Or switch your name because
you didn't like the one you'd been
given.
Some people have, and found
themselves in a mess of trouble
when it carne to collecting their
pensions,
With more and more red tape,
the time may come when, in
order to die, we must produce our
driving licenses, or if we're
lucky, a flying license.
As it stands now, just to collect
the pension we need proof of our
correct name, age and birth
place; proof of marriage with
names and ages matching those
above.
Women, especially, are
notorious for fooling around with
their ages.
1 heard of a 62 year-old lady
recently who said, "It may cost
me $2,000 to get out of a mess I'm
in because of lying about my
age."
She had cut five years off her
age to get a job several years
before. She went into a pension
plan at her company, paying
premiums five years lower than
she would have on her honest age,
Then she bought a life in-
surance annuity, again with the
premiums five years too low. At
62, when she was really 67, she
wanted to retire and the fat was
in the fire.
Yes, those little white lies can
cause a heap of trouble.
A man is now wrestling with a
life insurance policy of his wife
who died. When she took out the
policy she wanted-to hide the fact
her father and mother had both
died of a disease that she could
have inherited so she listed
Linda Anne Aube and Steven
Douglas Johns were united in
marriage at a ceremony per-
formed at St. Rita's Church in
Woodstock, by Rev. H. Roche,
January 22, 1972.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
& Mrs. J. Ernest Aube, Wood-
pneumonia instead.
It's not uncommon, apparently,
for a girl, not liking her Christian
name, to switch it „ . say from
Myrtle (which is on her birth
certificate) to Angela. But she
doesn't bother to make the
change legal. So, Myrtle gets her
first job as Angela, goes on the
Social Security rolls, pension
rolls and income tax rolls as
Angela. She marries as Angela,
goes on her husband's life in-
surance policies as Angela and
forgets completely that she is
legally Myrtle. So how is she
going to prove she is the Myrtle
on the birth certificate when she
comes up to collect insurance,
pensions, etc.
Authorities who hand out the
goodies of retirement don't mind
paying. They only want to know
that you're the person you say
you are. And you're the one who
has to prove it.
Healing Power of Love
Doctors say that many older
people, especially bachelors,
spinsters or persons who have
lost their spouses suffer from
distressing aches and pains that
have no organic cause, but are
due to the lonely, boring
existences they live.
Most of these people would feel
better if they could find some
work or activity that would take
them out of their homes into the
company of other people.
The feeling of being needed by
other people is the best medicine
in the world.
Dr. John A. O'Brien, research
professor at the University of
Notre Dame tells about a retired
druggist in an article he has
published.
stock, and the groom's parents
are Mr. & Mrs. Howard Johns, of
Woodham,
The church choir, accompanied
by organist, Mrs. Mary Roach,
sang `Joy is Like the Rain' and
'Ode of Joy',
Given in marriage by her
father the bride was charming in
a champagne colored gown of
polyester satin with mink and
jewel trim. She carried a cascade
of pink and white roses.
Maid of honor, Mrs. Jamie
Robb, London, wore a brown
polyester satin gown with beige
lace trim and carried pink roses,
Standing up with the groom
was David Wood, of Burlington,
and the ushers were Jim
Sweitzer, London, and Wayne
Shannon, Sarnia.
Mothers of the bridal couple
received at the reception held at
the Copa Cabana in Woodstock.
For a wedding trip to the
Southern States the bride chose a
going-away grey pant suit with
black accessories,
The young couple will reside in
Windsor,
Guests were present from
Windsor, London , Sarnia,
Toronto, New Brunswick,
Niagara Falls, Exeter and
Woodstock,
This man made his' senior
years rich and rewarding by
devoting his time and some of his
money on a sports program for
children in an orphange near his
home.
Because he first showed con-
cern for the kids, they took this
lonely man to their hearts and his
face shines. ith a new happiness.
How wonderful if the hundreds
of lonely people could learn the
healing power of love. There are
so many organizations and
people crying out for help. Many
of the lonely, bored persons could
give this help and receive the
reward of feeling useful, needed
and maybe even loved and
perhaps be relieved of their aches
and pains, too.
Smoking During Pregnancy
A Swedish article confirms
previous studies showing the
dangers of a woman's smoking
while she is pregnant. Compared
with the babies of mothers who do
not smoke, the babies of women
who smoked during pregnancy
have 50 percent more chance of
being born prematurely, thus
having a 1.6 . percent higher
tendency to die in infancy.
It is always more of a risk to an
infant's health to be born before,
he has gone through the full
period of growth in his mother's
womb. Obviously, the wise
woman will not smoke during
pregnancy.
