Young couple marry
at Carmel church
In house league hockey, New
York edged Boston 5 - 4 and
Montreal downed Toronto 7 - 5.
In the first of all-star games,
Exeter downed Hensel] 4 - 2 in
bantam play. The Hensall pee
wees bounced back to edge Huron.
Park 4 2. The Seaforth midgets
ran roughshod over their Hensall
counterparts by a 15 - 1 count
while the novice game was won
by Ilderton 3 - 2.
The most interesting game of
the night saw the beginners in
action, Boys aged four to eight
battled to a 1 - 1 tie.
The final game of the night saw
the Hensall juveniles edge the
intermediate Cascadians 4 - 3.

Mr. & Mrs. Garnet Mousseau

weekend visitors with the for-
mer's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Alex
Mousseau.
Mrs. Bertha MacGregor visited
recently with Mr. & Mrs. Eric
Munroe in Seaforth.

weekend visitor with her parents

Wedding anniversary
Mr. & Mrs. Roy Consitt,
Hensall, celebrated their 56th
wedding anniversary quietly at
their residence January 29.
Visitors for the evening were
the couples two sons, Jack and
Ray and their families, Mrs.
Farquharand Mrs.Kaiser, sisters
of Mr. and Mrs. Consitt.
Many congratulations were
received throughout the day by
telephone and many calls were
made by the neighbours
congratulating them on this
happy event.
Baptism in United Church
Sunday morning in Hensall
United Church, Tanya Lynn,
infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs.
Robert Baker of Stratford
received the rights of baptisam.
Rev. Don Beck chose for his
sermon theme "Run With
Determination" and the choir
sang the anthem "0 Happy
Home."

A total of eight hockey games
and a demonstration of figure
skating featured Saturday's
Minor Hockey Day festivities in
Hensall.
Between hockey games,
members of the Hensall Figure
,Skating club performed various
numbers. Among those doing
The annual supper and
congregational meeting of
Hensall United Church was held
in the Fellowship Hall, Wed-
nesday evening.
Following supper served by the
U.C.W. Edison Forrest paid
tribute to Rev, and Mrs. Beck,
and a token of the congregation's
appreciation was presented by
Mrs...Jack Drysdale.
Rev. Beck conducted a short
worship service.
The business portion of the
evening was chaired by Mr.
Beck. The life and work of the
congregation was appraised and
• set forth and received in the
annual report booklet.

The proposed budget for 1972
was presented by Mrs. Jack
Drysdale, Chairman of the
Stewardship Committee, and
accepted,
The restructured board was
reviewed and recommendations
were approved by the
congregation, Earl Rowe and Mr,
Harry Horton were re-appointed
auditors for the year 1972.
Ross Kercher was again ap-
pointed lay delegate to Huron-
Perth Presbytery with Bill
Mickle as alternate.
The congregation expressed
their thanks to Harvey Keys for
acting as treasurer for the past
two years and it was announced
that Cecil Pepper would take on
the duties of church treasurer.

African story
The Children of the Church of
Carmel Presbyterian Church met
Sunday morning when leader
Beatrice Thompson opened the
meeting. The roll call was an-
swered with six members
present.
Offering was taken and it was
emphasized to the Children that
it would go to buy Bibles and
hymn books for boys and girls in
Nigeria.
Leader Mrs. Robert Taylor
introduced the study on Africa;
this month being on Nigeria. A
story of a Nigerian boy and how a
missionary helped him was told.
Valentines were made for
crafts.

The U.C.W. of St. Andrews
Church Kippen, started off the
New Year with a pot luck supper
January 26,
Following the supper, Mrs.
John Anderson chaired the
program and gave the
devotional. The theme was,
"Beauty".
Mrs. W, J. F, Bell, president,
read a poem and chaired the
business part of the meeting,
Reports were given by the
treasurer, Mrs. Ken McLellan;
visiting committee, Mrs. Ross
Broadfoot; sunshine report, Mrs.
N, Dickert. Mrs. R. Elgie read
the minutes for Mrs. E. McLean
who is ill,
As Kippen is in charge of crafts
at the Queensway Nursing Home
in February, Mrs. K. Lovell
outlined the project. The offering
was taken by Mrs. R. Broadfoot
and Mrs. Tom Reid.
The ladies decided to collect
good used clothing, both men and
women's for the Rescue Mission
in London; clothing to be left at
the church before the February
meeting.
A musical number led by Mrs.
T. Reid and Mrs. Harold Jones
and accompanied by Mrs. R.
Broadfoot was taken from the
new hymnary.
A bus leaving Exeter will
travel to the Presbyterial in
Stratford. Those wishing to go
were asked to contact Mrs.
Gaiser of Dashwood.
Mrs. Harry Caldwell gave a
resume of her trip to Canada's
northland and Alaska. She was
introduced by Mrs. Bell and
thanked by Mrs. Tom Reid.

Kinettes canvass
for ability fund
The Hensall Kinettes held their
January meeting at the home of
Mrs. Ian McCallum. Guest for the
evening was Mrs. Dean
McKnight from the Exeter
Kinette Club.
Following a hockey game on
February 6, between St.
Michael's College and the
Hensall All-Stars, the Kinettes
will cater to a meal for the
players.
A silent auction was held for
entertainment.
The raffle was won by Mrs.
John Bettke.
January 31, the Kinettes
canvassed the village of Hensall
for the Ability fund.
Carmel Presbysterian Church
was the setting, January 29, 1972
for the wedding of Margaret Ann
(Peggy) Stretton, eldest
daughter of Mr, & Mrs, Herb
Stretton, Hensall, to Brian
Harold Campbell, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Campbell, R.R. 1,
Exeter. Rev. Wilfred Jarvis was
the officiating minister.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride chose a yellow
Swiss dot, Victorian style floor-
length dress with empire waist,
full sleeves and trimmed with
ruffles on waist and wrists. She
carried a bouquet of yellow and
white roses,
Nancy Stretton was bridesmaid
for her sister wearing a peau de
sole gown of figured mauve,
styled similar to the bride's.
She carried a bouquet of white
roses.
Mrs. Malcolm Dougall played
the wedding music.
of her 82nd birthday.
Mrs. Pearl Errat, Mrs. George
Thompson, Miss Rena
Stephenson, Mrs. R. Boyce and
Mrs. Eric Luther entertained
during the afternoon.
A birthday cake especially
made by Mrs. Boyce for the event
was much enjoyed by everyone.

at the Hensel] Hotel where the
mothers of the bride and groom
received,
The young couple will take up
residence at R.R. 1, Exeter.
Chiselhurst UC
annual meeting
The annual congregational
meeting and pot luck dinner was
held in Chiselhurst United
Church Thursday afternoon.
Rev. Beck chaired the business
portion of the meeting . Stewards
retiring in 1971 were Ross
Sararas, Mrs. Jack Brintnell, and
Mrs. Gerald Glenn. These were
re-appointed to retire in 1976.
The life and work of the
congregation was appraised and
reviewed in the annual report
booklet.
Harold Parker and Clarence
Coleman were re-appointed
auditors for 1972.
Miss Mary Kinsman was again
appointed recording secretary of
the congregation.
Reports showed a successful
year.
