One team from Hensall Legion
Ladies Auxiliary competed in a
Zone I bowling tournament,
Saturday at Clinton Bowling
Lanes.
The members taking part were
Wanda McClinchey, Iva Reid,
Mona Campbell, Mary Bisback,
Marg Vanstone and Helen
Roberts.
They finished in third place
qualifying them to compete in the
regional bowling competition to
be held in Hanover in April.
The Clinton Legion Auxiliary
were hostesses to the competition
in which twelve teams par-
ticipated.

exchange gifts
Mrs. Dorothy Beaton, Vice-
Grand, assisted by Mrs. Myrtle
Orr, R.,S.V.G., presided for the
opening excercises of Amber
Rebekah Lodge Wednesday
evening,
The business was conducted by
Noble Grand Mrs. Olga Chip-
chase, when Mrs. Dorothy
Corbett gave the treasurer's
report, Mrs. Hazel Corbett
reported for the finance com-
mittee and Mrs. Dorothy Beaton
reported visiting the Queensway
Nursing Home with Mrs. Chip-
chase.
Arrangements were discussed
for the banquet being held in
honor of Mrs. Betty Robinson,
Assembly President, who will be
visiting the district lodges.
An invitation to visit
Springtime Rebekah Lodge,
Thamesford, in March was
accepted. The annual birthday
party will also be held in March.
Following the meeting an
exchange of gifts with secret pals
took place

The C.P.T. copmmittee's of the
I,O.O.F. and Rebekah Lodges
held a successful euchre party
Friday evening with ten tables
participating.

Funeral service was held
Friday from the Ball Funeral

Mrs. Laird Mickle has been
confined to her home for the past
two weeks owing to illness.
Mrs. Inez McEwen is receiving
treatment in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter,
Mr, & Mrs. Ralph Holland and
family of Thamesford visited on
the weekend with Mr. & Mrs.
James Sangster and Bradley,
Mrs. Larry Mason of lJashwood
spent a day visiting with her
grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Jinks,
who is making her home with
Mrs. Gordon Schwalm.
Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Dilling
and family of Sarnia, visited with
Mr, & Mrs. Wilbert Dilling
Saturday of this week,
Joe Ferguson, who recently
underwent surgery in Victoria
Hospital, London was able to
return to his home here.
Charles Miller, Exeter, spent
the past week with his son-in-law
& daughter, Mr, & Mrs. David
Blackwell.

returned this weekend from
Acapulco, a town about 250 miles
southwest of Mexico City.
Acapulco has the reputation of
being the most beautiful of
Mexico's beach resorts, and has
become a noted vacation spot.
The temperature now ranges
from 85 degrees in daytime and.
about 75 degrees in the evening,
The town lies at the foot of high
semi-circular mountains that
surround the bay. Acapulco's
year round deep sea fishing is
world famous. The main
language spoken was Spanish
and some Mexican.
Harry and Ann report they had
enjoyed their trip very much and
would certainly recommend
Acapulco for a vacation to
anyone.
Huron Presbyterial meeting
Huron Presbyterial annual
meeting was held in Knox
Presbyterian Church, Goderich,
last meek.
Officers installed from Hensall
were: library secretary, Mrs.
Rochus Faber ; members
secretary, Mrs. Harvey Hyde;
Glad Tidings secretary, Mrs.
R.A. Orr; children's work
secretery, Mrs. Gordon Schwalm.
Also attending the meeting
were Mrs. Ruby Hoggarth, Mrs.
Earl Campbell and Mrs. John
Soldan.
Former Hensall District
Man Passes
Frederick Glavin of Clinton,
formerly of this district, passed
away in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, January 18, 1972.
He was the husband of Alice
Shelton, father of John of Lind-
say, brother of Glenn, Goderich
and Thomas of Kippen. Also
surviving are two grandchildren.
Conduct party
at Huronview
Lady tells experience of
becoming a Canadian
The Huronview Auxiliary held
a birthday party at Huronview
January 19, in the auditorium.
Twenty four residents having
birthdays were presented with a
gift at the end of the programme.
Mrs. Colclough, president, was
in charge of the program which
consisted of a singsong of oldtime
numbers accompanied by Mrs.
Josephine Cunningham on the
piano.
Two whistling numbers were
given by Mrs. Heard of
Holmesville, Several step dan-
cing numbers, very much en-
joyed by everyone, was given by
Sylvia Wilson of Varna. A
quartette comprised of Mrs.
Nevins, Mrs. McNichol, Mrs.
Heard and Mr. Erlin Whitmore
sang two numbers.
Several solos were sung by Mr.
Whitmore. A step dance number
was given by Mrs. Mamie Sut-
cliffe of Goderich, followed by
mouth organ selections by Mrs.
Nevins.
The program was enjoyed by
all and a cup of tea and cupcakes
were served. Auxiliary members
helped serve the lunch.

The citizenship meeting of
Kippen East Women's Institute
was held at the home of Mrs.
Dave Triebner when Mrs. Mary
Van Valkengoed, a native of
Holland, told of her experiences,
both pleasant and unpleasant, in
obtaining permission to come to
Canada and until she received
her citizenship certificate.
Her listeners agreed it took a
great deal of courage to leave
family and friends to start a new
life in a strange land.

citizenship and education Report
and Mrs. E. Whitehouse gave the
historical and current event
report.

(Peggy) Stretton, bride-elect who
will marry Brian Harold Camp-
bell, R.R. 1, Exeter, Saturday.

the meeting when it was decided
not to set up exhibits for the fair
and to have each group sew for
the Sick Children's Hospital. Mrs,
Angus Hummell, Mrs, J,A,B,
Bell, Mrs. I. Ferris, Mrs. D,
Brodie and Mrs. G. Postma.
Lunch was served by the
hostess and Mrs. M. Connolly and
the Committee in charge.
