The financial -statement showing a balance on hand of $950.28 was studied and accepted. Raymond Heard reported on the 4-H dairy calf club which was very successful, increasing the membershipfrom 10 to 16 and all members completed their project. He spoke about the good co- operation they had received from MT. CARMEL The annual meeting of the cemetery board was held Sunday and new officers were elected, Honorary president, John A. Ryan; secretary treasurer, Stephen Dietrich; chairman, Wilfred Hogan and vice chair- man, John A, Glavin. Ian and Brenda Carroll, children of Mr. & Mrs, Ron Carroll, visited Wesley Abbott, Whalen, Monday evening. Wesley was celebrating his 13th birthday. Mrs. F'red Dobbs Jr. was guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Exeter Rangers held at the home of Mrs. Robt. Luxton, Exeter, last week, Mr. & Mrs. Bob Steele visited Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis, Sunday, Cottage service was to be held at the home of Mr, & Mrs. Clarence Davis Sunday but was cancelled due to Weather. Mrs. Fred Dobbs attended the funeral of the former dean of Western Nursing School, Or, Edith McDowell, at the chapel at Mount St. Joseph's Mother House Friday. Nancy and Marylon Tindall spent a few days this past week visiting their aunt and elide, Mr, & Mrs. Earl Greenlee. Mrs. Howard MacDonald, Lucan, is a patient at St, Joseph's Hospital, London. Mrs. Maurice MacDonald, Grand Bend, is looking after the children at their home in Lucan. MrS. Larry Greenlee attended service at Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church, Sunday, for a special service of Love and Christian Unity. Mr. & Mrs, D. He said the parents felt that the boys would do better and have a larger club if they could use their own calves rather than buying, but it was felt that with buying strange calves everyone had an equal start.. The Friendship-Circle Quilters held their first quilting of the winter season last Thursday at the home of Mrs. E, Bullock, Mr. & Mrs. Walter Cripps of Winnipeg, Mrs. Bob McFadden of Toronto, Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Curts of Grand Bend and Miss Viola Curts of London visited with Evelyn and Manuel Curts last Friday evening. Perhaps the easiest way to get a man to the moon would be to tie him to the cost of living index. Dedication at GB church By MRS. CLARKE KENNEDY Last Sunday at the morning service of worship in St. John's By the Lake Anglican church, Rev. W. Mills dedicated and initiated the combined United and Anglican hymn book. Barbohr, Mrs, LeRoy Reyes and infant son Scott Douglas returned home last Friday from hospital, and possibilities and bring a report to the fair board at a later date, All directors were re-appointed and Marvin Hartwick and Mervin Shute were added to the Board. Retiring president 'Peter Simpson thanked everyone for their co-operation in making the fair a success. Wm. Lamond was elected president for 1972, 1st vice- president, Stanley Francis; 2nd vice-president, Gerald Brintnell; secretary-treasurer, Howard Bearss. The salary of the sec,- treas, was increased $50.00, Wm. Lamond and Howard Bearss were appointed delegates to the Agricultural Societies Convention in Toronto, Clarence Switzer, Ewart Crago and Burns Blackler will be in charge of Field Crop Competitions and Stan Francis chairman of the beef calf club.
