Several birthdays were celebrated on Friday evening .'hen Mr. & Mrs, Glenn Copeland, Cynthia, Ellen and Deanna entertained Mr, & Mrs, George Wheeler, Mrs. Frank Rodd, Mr. & Mrs. John Rodd, Pamela and Calvin, Mr. & Mrs. David Wheeler and Miss Jean Copeland. Mr. & Mrs. David Wheeler attended a family gathering on Sunday at the home of the letters mother, Mrs. Robert Corsaut of St. Marys. Mrs. Reta Morrison is in- disposed with a fractured arm. Mr. & Mrs. John Melville and Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Defore left Tuesday morning for a trip to New Mexico, Mrs. Elmer Hughes, London, reports her mother Mrs. Tom Hall, is slowly improving in St. Joseph's Hospital. The snowmobile rally, Sunday, at the arena in Thedford was well attended despite the cold weather. The 14 mile course was through bog land. Several entries were from Ridgetown. David Gotelaer made the icy hill but Debbie Hawkins, un- fortunately, collided with a tree. Hugh Smith has been im- proving land for John Melville and Bill Hall. Calvin Rodd spent the weekend with, Paul Simpson of Kirkton. Miss Jean - Copeland was .hostess for the directors meeting of the Kirkton Horticultural Society Saturday afternoon. Mr, .& Mrs. Oscar Brine visited Saturday evening with Mr. & Mrs. William Rundle and Larry, Mr. & Mrs, Ralph Wareham, Jeffrey and Suzanne of Wingham visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs, Norris Webb, Julie and Lorie, Jacqueline Beckett of the South Waterloo Hospital in Galt spent the weekend with her parents- Mr. & Mrs, Lawrence Beckett. Yvonne Jaques of Zion and Miss Karen Rodd of Sarnia were Friday evening guests with Mrs. Arthur Hopkin. Mrs. Frank Hern of St, Marys and Mrs. Clarence Mills were Sunday guests. UCW meets at Brinsley By GORDON MORLEY January meeting of the UCW was held at the home of Mrs. Jack Trevithick. Mrs. Norman Lewis opened the meeting with prayer which was followed by a reading by Mrs. N. Lewis. Mrs. Earl Lewis read the scripture and Mrs. Pickering gave two short poems. Mrs. Howard Fenton, Mrs. E. Lewis and Mrs, N. Lewis all gave readings. Mrs. George Lee was in charge of the business. It was decided to use the dime holiday calendar this year to make money, and to have a pot luck supper for the congregational meeting January 27. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Allen Amos and family visited, Sunday, with Mr. & Mrs. Lorne MacGregor of Ailsa Craig. Rev. W.E. Stephenson and the session met at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jack Hodgson Wednesday evening. Melvin Allison returned home Friday afternoon from St. Joseph's Hospital. St. James Anglican Church Sunday, Rev. R. Carson preached on 'A Declaration of Faith' which is the title of a section of the draft document on Church Union. He said there was an urgency for Church Union. There needs to be in Canada a rededication by clergy and laity to the cause of church union. He said the section dealing with the faith is fairly acceptable to Anglicans as it now stands. He asked the congregation to study the draft plans and participate in their revision, January 27 the Anglican Church Women of St. James will meet in the home of Mrs. Wilfred Cunningham. Mr. & Mrs. Dave Kestle were pleased on the weekend to hear they were grandparents of a fine grandson, Nathan, son of Mr. & Mrs. Clare Skinner, of London. The Huron County Trotting Club held their winter dance at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Earl Morgan, Saturday night. Due to bad weather several members were unable to attend. Yorkshire swine from the farm won countless awards at the Regina Exhibition, the Toronto Royal Winter Fair and at many other livestock shows. He was much in demand as a judge of swine and beef cattle, In 1965, the Saskatchewan govern- ment recognized his efforts on behalf of agriculture by naming a lake after him in the Lac La Ronge area. Mr. Harlton returned to Clandeboye many times to visit his mother and father while they were living. His last visit to his home town was seven years ago. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Haggerty in 1955.
