Pao. 7 London squad wins
local Novice event
Now that the holidays are over
the arena schedule will revert
back to the regular routine of
activities. The mite tournament
and skate-a-thon are over for this
season.
I should add both events were a
tremendous success. In the mite
tournament 23 games were
played over the two days.
e Counting the players about one
thousand people took in the event
with over six hundred paying
customers. The tournament will
be held next year on the same
dates and I must congratulate
Ron Horn and his cohorts for an
* excellent run tournament.
The skate-a-thon was also very

successful with pledges of
slightly over two thousand
dollars for the twenty four hour
event, theite were seven boys who
skated the full 24 hrs., other boys
had to leave and play hockey at
St. Marys and Huron Park but
returned after the games and
continued an skating and actually
were on the go the full 24 hours.
One boy 'had pledges of $18.70
per hour from over one thousand
different sponsors and he skated
the full 24 hours. I hate to single
out any one individual but the
effort in getting the sponsors and
then skating the full time his
name has to be mentioned and he
is Jim Veri,
The only possible disap-
pointment, if I may call it that
was in the number of adults who
didn't take the time to get a
sponsor or two and skate for an
hour, We only had three people in
the older class. I mean thirty and
over and each of these skated
from two to four hours.
Boston defeated Vancouver 5 to
1 both teams had to draw some
players to fill in for the players
who were away at Forest. Doug
Fletcherhad the "hat trick" with
single goals by Chris Mit-
tleholtz and Phillip McLeod for
Boston, The lone goal for Van-
couver was scored by Danny
Galloway.
New York defeaLe1 Montreal 4
to 3. Tony Mattucci had three
goals for New York with the
single goal scored by Mark
Parsons.
For Montreal Doug Fletcher
scored two with little Dave
Robinson getting the other,
Both games in pee wee ended in
ties, Bruins and Baracudas
battled to a 3 all tie and Black
Hawks and Mustangs played a 2
all tie. Randy Parsons scored all
three goals for Bruins, Randy
Fisher Perry Pooley and Brad
Taylor for Baracudas.
Paul Pooley scored two goals
for Black Hawks, Brian Pym and
Brian Clarke scored on each for
Mustangs.
