Christmas morning the children rise early To open their presents and empty their stockings But Christmas has another meaning It the day thatChrist was born CHRISTMAS By ANN GOULD Grade 8 -Exeter The night before Christmas, as I lay in my bed, My mind was so busy with thoughts in my head, Of the Christmas's before, with family and friends, The thrill of the toys, and the gifts people send. My Grandma and Grampa make it more a delight, When they arrive from Toronto on Christmas night, But most of all I think of the ones all alone, Without friends, without families, and some without homes, And wish I could ask them, all to come in, to sit at our table, and to share love, Because isn't that what God said, in Heaven above, "Peace on Earth, Good will towards men," A GIFT OF LOVE By FRANCES NASH Grade 6 - Mount Carmel Upon one cold and winter night. Three kings saw a star come into there sight. They watched and stared with all their might. And not once did it fade from their sight. They followed the star till they got to a manger. There before their eyes lay a stranger. It lay in Mary's arms white as a dove. To Mary and Joseph a gift of love. Holly By DIANNE SMITH Grade 6 - Huron Centennial H is for the holy child. T-A photo Christmas is full of delights But we must think just right. I like Christmas very much We must not get out of touch Jesus is born, We must not scorn. Christmas is to remind us Of many things, Gifts, love and happiness You must not think that presents Are there to think about And not others. CHRISTMAS JOYS By LAUREL HODGERT Grade 7 Usborne Central It's getting near Christmas again. Everyone's rushing about, doing last minute shopping and putting up Christmas trees. But there is something fascinating about Christmas, You can smell the pleasant aroma of Christmas cookies in the oven and the smell of the Christmas tree in the living room. The Christmas tree is all decorated up with lights and under'neath, it is loaded with presents just waiting to be opened. The children are all excited, and so are the grown- ups. On the streets, everyone waves to everyone they meet, The stores are filled with people loaded with toys and games. Then comes Christmas Eve, This is the most thrilling time for the youngsters. They hang up their stockings and set out food for Santa Claus, Then they go to bed, all excited. In the morning when they wake up, they rush downstairs and look in their stockings, They rush to wake up their parents to show them what Santa brought them. Then, at our house, we have to wait till breakfast is over. It is hard waiting! Finally the presents are all opened. Everyone is picking up wrapping paper from the floor or else playing with the games they got. Then we wait till dinner is ready. And I love Christmas dinner! That night everyone flops into their bed, tired from a long day. Christmas is fun! The End Christmas and it's Meaning to Me By JOANNE LOVIE Grand Bend Christmas, is the joyous season,. The bells ring out the joy to all So we remember young and all With all the dither and the glitter We wrapping our gifts in a tither "Oh the Joy of Christmas" Just to make out Christmas more fun We decorate the tree with pin- cones and holy.
