The Exeter Broncos redeemed
themselves Saturday afternoon
for an earlier season loss to the
Si. Thomas novice hockey club.
In an Intercounty exhibition
game in St. Thomas, the local
Broncos gained a 4-3 decision in a
well played contest.
Jeff Newby scored the winning
goal for Exeter late in the third

play on the winning marker by
stealing the puck from a St.
Thomas player and broke in on
goal all by himself,
The St. Thomas goalie was able
to block the shot but Newby was
johnny-on-the-spot to put the
puck into the net.
The other Exeter goals were
scored on three-way passing
efforts. Steve Skinner notched the
first with help from Brian Mercer
and Dan Bell while Mercer was
successful on the second with
assists going to Bell and David
Atthill.
The second exhibition game of
the week for the Broncos resulted
in a 6-2 loss to a Stratford team
