A beautiful star in the window, an eve full of Christmas

Christmas Time
By BRENDA BALLANTYNE
, Grade 6 - Usborne
T'is now a happy time of year,
To dream of Santa Clause.
To put your stockings up with
cheer
And don't forget the guaze
That holds up all the colored
socks
And when its time to open gifts
Oh, look at Jane she's got a box
How grand it is the gift she lifts,
And then at night,
When you see,
You just might,
Be filled with glee
What Christmas Means to Me
By STEPHEN BORLAND
Grade 4 - Stephen Central
Christmas is a time of joy
For every little girl and boy.
But the joyful thing of Christmas
on earth
Is the real date of Jesus' birth.
By PAMELA JACKSON
Grand Bend
The hustle and bustle of
Christmas
Is what I love to see,
The snow and lights a glistening
And getting the Christmas tree
The stockings hanging in a row
And then they're filled from tip to
toe
"Quickly children into bed"
Is what most mothers have said.
"For in the morn when you
awake
You can't be tired, for your
sake,"
Tomorrow you will see what you
got
And everyone else will see what
you bought,
And now I would like to say,
"Have a very merry Christmas
in every way.
thanks again. The Christ child-
was put in Sandra's loving arms.
Sandra's only wish had come, as
she held the child her heart filled
with joy and she thbught he was
the most beautiful baby she had
ever seen.
That night as the star
brilliantly shone upon Sandra's
back she drempt millions of
angels lifted her up and blessed
her. In the morning Sandra was
not a crippled lame child as she
had been before, as the strength
to her leg had' returned. Her
mother said it was the brilliant
star which did it, but Sandra knew
it was the blessing of the Christ
child which she had once held in
her arms.

Some snow is falling on my nose
And my feet are darn near froze
Said Santa, as he put on warmer
clothes
Of course you know that. Santa
goes
With reindeer prancing on their
toes
At last he is done his yearly chore
The presents that the children
thank him for.

In the golden yellow hay laid a
baby
All night and all day
Ding Hong rang the bells •
On the chiwch, top high and loud
Came the shepherds bearing gifts
To little Jesus in his bed
CHRISTMAS
By EDDY VAN ROESSEL
Pecious Blood
Christmas eve is a happy night
And the children are waiting for
bright
Santa Claus is in his way
To make you gay.
The next day the bell will ring
So the children began to sing
Santa Claus is home at last
Coming in with a big gay blast.

Here comes Santa and eight

Here they come, Give theme a

The First Christmas
13yJEFFREYGREB
Grade 2 ,1,A.1), McCurdy
When Jesus was born that was
called the first Christmas. Jesus
was born in astable,A great star
shone over it. And shepherds and
three wise men came and gave
gifts to Jesus. And thats how
come we have Christmas
nowdays.
An Eye Fyn of Christmas.
By COLLEEN BREEN
Mt. Carmel
U was one Christmas Eve
There were carols to be sung.
There were lights to be lit
There were socks to be hung,
On that Christmas Eve
I heard my mon say
"I think it's time for bed,
It's been a long day!"
I replied to her softly
"Well, mom will you wait
"Cause I'm watching some kids
sing!
Besides its not to late!"
Here Comes Santa Claus
CHERYL PARSONS
Grade 4 -1.Jsborne
Bells are ringing
Sleigh is Slinging
Bringing toys about
Santa Claus is shouting,
Everyone is, happy
So go to bed snappy
Because Santa Claus Is Coming
to Night
"Now dear, its nine thirty and
bedtime
Tomorrows Christmas" she said.
So I hung up my socking
And ran up to bed!
I knelt by my bedside
And all my prayers I said
And I was just kind of dreaming
When I dozed off in bed!
I rose up real early and, ran to
Wake up dad and mom
There were presents under our
tree,
So I knew Santa had come.
I tore open each present
Addressed with my name
Each item I'd wished for
Well, most of them came.
I was really excited,
My face gleamed like gold!
While mom took my picture I
held,
All the presents I could possibly
hold!
Each moment of wishing
Had all been worthwhile,
Santa is good very good!
My mother held a smile!!!
We all went to Mass,
A manger was displayed
The Jesus was in it,
With his features arrayed!
When we came home from
church,
We changed into our new
Christmas clothes.
We all looked simply gorgeous.
From our head to our toes!
Mom was all fancied
In ribbon and bows.
While dad wore his suit
And new socks on his toes.
wore my new green dress
With lace and other fancy stuff
My mind was filled with
Christmas
I was just all a-muff
I was told many a time
"You're quite a nice girl in that
dress
With your sparkly eyes and bows
And your hair all a-tress!
I cleared away the garbage
And made each room neat!
I went to my Grandmas
She stood kind and sweet!
We ate all the candy
Our mouths could eat!
Then came supper
We had turkey for meat!
Mmm how delicious, •.
I tasted each bite,
Of turkey, potatoes and bread
Of peas and cranberries of red.
Well, soon Christmas was over
Each minute had past.
0 new year would soon come
1971 had passed by us so fast
CHRISTMAS
By TONY MATTUSCI
Grade 5 - Hensall
What does Christmas mean to
you?
Does it mean presents, candy,
fun, and play?
Maybe?
But Christmas to me means
Joseph,
Mary, Christ and the stall.
So on Christmas Day have fun and
play
But remember Christ on
Christmas Day.

(just add water and let it ferment
for a couple of weeks).
After scoffing the lot, we lay
around on our bunks, with the
firelight flickering from the
battered stove. Did we talk about
home and loved ones? We did not.
We just lay there and groaned,
like 18 pythons who had
simultaneously swallowed 18
goats.
Most of us were sick half the
night, but it was worth it. It was
the only time for months that we
hadn't been hungry, and the only
time for months that we wouldn't
be.
Other Christmases swarm into
memory. I'll not forget the one
when my wife was having the
family, for the first time. She
fussed all day and had everything
just so, She was going to show her
mother and aunts that she was no
slouch of a housewife, Her eyes
were darting everywhere,
making sure that everything was
in order. The atmosphere was
about the same as that at Cape
Kennedy when they're going to
fire at the moon.
Finally the supreme moment.
She ushered everyone to the table
and rather grandly ordered me to
take the turkey out of the oven. I
did, but the dam' pan was red hot
and I dropped the whole works,
gravy, grease, dressing and
turkey on the shining kitchen
floor. I'll spare you the details,
but I've never come closer to
sudden death, even during the
war.
In parting I have three wishes
for my loyal readers: that your
Christmas tree doesn't fall over
just after you've finished
decorating: that you don't drop
the turkey; and that you have the
best and happiest Christmas
you've ever had, with people you
love.
The Star
By DONNA McKINLEY
Grade 6 Huron Cent.
"Sandra come down the stairs
to supper," called mother.
Sandra rose slowly and painfully,
sharp pains darted up her back.
She came down the creeking old
stairs, "My poor child," said
mother. "It was the kick of a
mule that made you lame, when
• you were only four years old."
Mother sighed and helped her
daughter down the remaining
stairs to the ground floor.
"Oh mother I feel fine, ever-
since a beautiful star has shone in
my window, I have felt much
better," said Sandra. "Its rays
sooth the pain from my back and
leg," she said.
"Oh Sandra, don't talk such
nonsense,': exclaimed mother. "I
wonder what is taking your
father so long."
"Lets go see," said Sandra
▪ eagerly. As they came to stand
before father a man named
Joseph came up to them leading
an exhausted mule and a young
lady who looked tired, weary and
terribly ill. Her name was Mary.
"Is there a place in the inn
where we may stay, my wife is ill
• and is going to have a child very
soon," pleaded Joseph hopefully.
But even as he spoke Sandra's
father shook his head. "I'm sorry
but we're full," he said slowly.
Joseph began to turn away but
Sandra shyly spoke up and said

stay. In the stable, there is clean
"Mister I know where you can
hay and it is soft,"
"The child's right said her
mother, the stable is clean and
the hay will keep you warm."
Sandra gazed at Mary and
Mary smiled her thanks to the
• child for thinking of the stable.
Joseph also said his thanks and
turned the donkey toward the
stable.
That night the star shone in
more brightly than ever on the
little crippled child. The brilliant
light soothed her back and legs.
▪ Her little white lamb which she
loved and froliced with everyday
lay at the bottom of the bed
sleeping. Her little white lamb
was her prized possession and the
only thing she had.
In the morning she felt much
better and after a frolic with her
lamb she went and stood beside
her mother. Three strange, old
men, who looked very wise came
up to her and asked where the
new born Saviour Jesus Christ
was born. Sandra answered "The
only babe I know of is the babe
• that was born to Mary and Joseph
in a manger at the stable," Her
mother led them to the stable. As
they saw the child they knelt and
bowed their heads and gave him
Gold, frankincense and Myrrh.
Sandra's mother's eyes popped
with amazement at the gifts, but
► all Sandra saw was the little
Christ child. If only I could hold
him she thought.
That night the star shone on her
and she thought, if only I had a
gift that I could give the Christ
child, like the three wise men did,
Suddenly the star shone
brilliantly on the little lamb
asleep at the foot of her bed.
In the morning Sandra knelt
beside her lamb and kissed it as if
to say good-bye then she took her
lamb her only possession to the
stable. Shyly she gave the lamb
gently to Mary. Mary smiled her •
