SAYING HI TO SANTA — Santa Claus made his annual visit to the
Lucan Legion Sunday afternoon. Above, Santa has a chat with
Jeffrey Mann and Angela McIntyre. T-A photo
Irish get only one point
in three junior starts
with the Hawks. These
traditional rivals battled to a 4-4
tie with the Irish picking up their
only point of the week. Further
details on this game may be
found on the sports pages.
One should not criticize game
officials because they are for the
most part, the backbone of
hockey in centres such as ours
but in Exeter the last two games,
we have noted the game
timekeeper has not been running
the clock in the dying minutes of
the game.
This could mean a win or a loss
to either team and it is hoped it is
his enthusiasm for the game and
not a deliberate attempt to
prolong the game in the vain hope
for a goal by the Hawks.
Last night, Wednesday,
Lambeth provided the opposition
in Lucan. Friday we travel to
Lambeth and then it's back to
Lucan for a game With Bob
White's Exeter Hawks, Sunday
afternoon at two o'clock.
Hope to see you then as fans are
what make the game.

Xmas parties
Lucan
`The Masonic Hall was the
gathering place, December 7, of a
Christmas party when the
Womeris Institute Members of
Lucan met for a pot luck supper.
Christmas decorations added
to the feeling of goodwill and
friendship. Mrs. Santa arrived to
deliver gifts and secret pals from
a year ago were named.
A varied program of readings
recitations, solos, contests, were
enjoyed by all.
The motto, from St, Luke was
well presented by Mrs. M. H.
Hodgins.
Mrs. R. Crozier, who was able
to return from London for the
afternoon, presided for business.
Mrs. C. Robb announced gifts
had been given to nine former
W.I. members.
The January meeting will be at
the home of Mrs. W. Atkinson,
weather and streets permitting .
McGillivray
The Christmas meeting of
McGillvray Women's Institute was
held at the home of Mrs. Joe
Carey. The president, Mrs. Tom
• Kooy, was in the chair for the
meeting which was opened by
repeating the Mary Stewart
collect.
The roll call, "a cutter ride I
remember" was answered by 12
members. Mrs. Luther Morley
invited the members and their
husbands to her home for fowl
dinner in January.
Mrs. Luther Morley, program
convener, gave three readings
and Mrs. Earl Morley read the
scripture on the Christmas story
after which the members joined
in singing Christmas songs.
An exchange of Christmas gifts
was held and the meeting closed
with the singing of a Christmas
carol. Lunch was served by the
hostess assisted by Mrs. Earl
Morley and Mrs, Luther Morley.

party will be held December23,

and the clergy were asked by the
Archdeacon to see if more

Sorry that 1 missed last week or
didn't you notice. Well, anyway,
here I am again.
Friday night the girls skating
was down, come on out and enjoy
this free skating time, girls, from
4-5 p.m.
In Shamrock minor hockey
Friday we had some real fine
games. In the pee wee it was
Lucan over Ilderton by a score of
1-0. Bernard Benn took over the
coaching duties in the absence of
regular coach Doug Fargnoli and
I can still hear his heart poun-
ding. Simmer down, Bernie!
In Bantam it was a marathon
as Ilderton won by a score of 7-5. I
believe the goal tenders have
been concentrating on the music
from the teenage dance upstairs,
as each team seemed to be able to
score at will, even so it was a
thriller.
In the midget game we had a
cleaner style of hockey than the
previous Friday with Lucan
eking out a 3-2 win over the
Ilderton boys. Hard luck Dave
Smith scored the winner, now
that Dave 'has finally found the
range he will keep going, let's
hope so.
Saturday novice hockey it was
a 2-all tie between Lucan and
Ilderton, Lambeth swamped
Dorchester 9-0 and Exeter
treated the Huron Park team the
same way by trouncing them 11-
1, There will not be public skating
in the Lucan arena this Sunday
December 19 because of a Jr, (D)
hockey game but you can always
come down and enjoy the game
for a nominal fee. There will be
skating on Boxing Day, Sunday
December 26.
