book which he read to the
children prior to giving them all a
pre Christmas gift.
Santa thanked. Branch 540 for
inviting him to visit with the
children, he also wishes to thank
Comrade Charlie Skolly for
showing the movies and to the
friends at Molson's for supplying
the movies. A very special thank
you to Nancy Deeks, Santa's
helper again this year in
distributing the gifts. We know
that Santa had a happy time:and
hope that you all enjoyed your-
selves.
By the way, just prior to
leaving Santa advised if anyone
knew of a child who was ill and
won't have the opportunity to see
Santa prior to Christmas to be
sure to telephone the Canadian
Legion in Lucan. We have a hot
line direct to Santa and he has
told us he would be happy to visit
with them personally at their
home and bring with him a little
Christmas cheer,
While in Lucan, Santa also
received a wonderful surprise
gift, his old friend Laurie Levier,
nee Crudge, had a brand new
lovely red suit waiting for him.
Santa was truly pleased and has
asked us to thank his good friend
Laurie very very much.

Old Santa sure had a busy time
at 13ranch 540 Sunday afternoon
when 100 children of Lucan and
area greeted him. I think the old
fellow was pleasantly surprised
with the welcome he received,
Santa however took everything in
stride, He reached into his little
bag of tricks and found a story

congratulations to Comrades
Edith and Dick Worthington who
observed their 28th wedding
anniversary, Saturday. God bless
you both and may you live to
observe 100.
We see by the papers, many
housewives have always
lamented the trouble they have
keeping their boys socks sorted
out after doing the laundry, Now
they will have a new problem.
The latest fashion kink out of
London is unisex nylon un-
derwear,
Imagine the problems now,
fighting with your husband over
the laundered panties. Of course,
you may already be fighting with
him over his and hers panty
hose?
Tuesday night mixed sports is
really shaping up to be the sports
event of the season. Remember
this is at Branch 540 and it's
every second Tuesday — the date
for the next battle will be
Tuesday, December 21.
If you are a card holding
member of 540 you are welcome
to participate. Here are the
standings to date — Darts - tied
for first place, The Len Fishers
and Gord Elsons — first in
Euchre - The Cronyns, For
Cribbage in first place, it's
Shirley Stuckless and Sid Daley
while in shuffle board George
Juergins and Shirley Stuckless
have the honors.
ARE YOU AN EARLY BIRD
YET — 35 percent of your fellow
comrades are — we are depen-
ding on you, Comrades — there
are still a couple of weeks left to
get the job done — We are
depending on you Comrade. The
membership thermometer has
quite a distance to travel before it
reaches the boiling point — by the
way don't forget when you
become an early bird you are
entitled to get in on the free draw.
Get your tickets for the New
Years eve dance at Branch 540
yet? They are over 50 percent
sold and in case you are in-
terested they are on sale on a first
come first served basis — don't
be disappointed, call Smilin' Carl
Stuckless or Li'l Len Fisher at
the Legion. For a fun filled
swingin' time its Branch 540, New
Years Eve.
Don't forget the draw for the
Cellarette on Saturday, Comrade
Harvey asks that all ticket stubs
be turned in prior to draw date —
so get with it comrades— Harvey
stresses the fact he is only in-
terested in receiving stubs back
— so I guess this means he ex-
pects all tickets to be sold.
and that's 30 for this week,
remember, the biggest mistaken
belief minors have is that they
will be able to do as they please
after they reach 21.
