T-A photo Party at Pineridge Sorority spreads Christmas cheer Santa and his elves had nothing on Beta sigma Phi, Alpha Pi members and their guests who met at the home of Mrs. Bill Batten for their annual Christ- mas craft and work night last week, The project, planned by the Ways and Means committee, was so successful last year that members decided to make it an annual event. Each member brought a guest and contributed odds and ends for making Christmas decorations. Showing ingenuity and creativity, the forty . young women divided into groups to produce clown candy canes, small, jolly Santas filled with candy, door swags and table centre pieces, The idea of the project is to add to the Christmas cheer of those • Tuesday evening, the Alphi Pi members and their husbands held their Christmas party at the Pineridge Chalet at Hensall when they danced to taped music. A beautiful buffet table with other decorations enhanced the room, The members brought humorous gifts for their secret pals husbands and there was a gift exchange among the members as well. The door prize was won by John Wraight and Mrs. Don Webster won the ticket draw of a wine and cheese basket. needy families. Mrs. Tom Duffy and her committee were in charge of a punch bowl and the Christmas refreshments that were served. . So She Gave Them All The Annual Christmas fair, an event which gives the residents an opportunity to do some Christmas shopping, was held Monday. Each resident is given a credit slip to select gifts from the several tables which are arranged in the craft room with tea and cookies served in the auditorium. This project is sponsored and arranged by the Women's Auxiliary with contributions from various organizations. Resident-members of the C.N.I.B. were guests at the regional Christmas party which was held on Wednesday evening in the Mitchell United Church. One hundred and twenty-five members and their escorts from Huron and Perth attended the dinner which included turkey and all the trimmings followed by a sing-song and musical numbers by the Stratford Barber Shop- pers. Laura Inglis of Clifford arranged and directed a program presented by the Hi. C. group of McIntosh United Church on Family Night. The Family night program will 'be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m, December 22 instead of the regular Thursday night for next week only, Elect slate at general meeting A smorgasbord supper was held at the Exeter United Church Monday night when the general meeting of the U.C.W. held its Christmas program, Following supper a sing song of Christmas carols was conducted by Mrs. Earl Russell with Mrs, Frank King at the piano. Mrs. Wellington Brock chaired the program. Lenore Coates sang two numbers accompanied by her mother, Mrs, Jack Coates. Danny and Bob Heywood presented several musicial numbers and Mrs. Hector Murray read a Christmas story. Business was conducted by Mrs. Beth Batten and reports were given by various com- mittees indicating a successful year. Worship was lead by Mrs. Chas. Snell assisted by Mrs. Les Thompson. Committees: citizenship and social action, Mrs. C. Cann; friendship and visiting, Mrs. M. Gardiner; Christmas education, Mrs. L, Porter; finance, Mrs. E. Harvey; flowers, Mrs, H. Skinner, Mrs, N. Brock. Literature, Mrs. R.E. Pooley; program and leadership development, Mrs. W. Pin- combe; membership, Mrs. H. who are not as fortunate as most and the completed decorations were later delivered to Children's Aid Society, the Davis and Queensway Nursing Homes, South Huron Hospital and to persons who are shut-in because of age or illness, A truly Christmas spirit per- meated the decorated room as the girls worked with seasonal music wafting through the air, A long table held other Christmas articles brought by the members which were auctioned off during the evening by auc- tioneer Mrs. Jim Newby.
