For ALL Last
Because of the parade hockey
players were quite scarce for the
pee wee houseleague from 1 to 3
but the morning games went on
as scheduled.
Over the holidays we have two
Saturdays when the arena will be
closed December 25 and January
1. In order not to miss any hockey
we will play over regular
Saturday houseleague hockey on
Friday December 24 and Friday.
31. In other words the regular
Saturday hockey will be moved
ahead to the Friday. All times
will remain the same.
Montreal defeated New York 5
to 2 in a hard fought game in
which tempers flared slightly.
Brian Mercer scored two goals
for Montreal with singles added
by Dave Robinson, Philip
McLeod and Doug Fletcher. Hard
rock Steve Skinner scored both
goals for New York.
In the second game Boston
defeated Vancouver 1 to 0. Jeff
Newby scored the goal and the
shut out was chalked up by Ed
Hunter-Duvar.
In always teasing Ed about
being late for the games he is an
extremely slow dresser and
usually late getting on the ice but
last Saturday he was there on
time and scored a big shut out.
"Keep up the goal work Ed,"

Jets win another contest,
down Simcoe club easily
TheLucan-IldertonJets. in their
only ice action of the week had
little difficulty in disposing of the-
Simcoe Blades by a score of 11-4
in Simcoe, Friday night.
The Blades are regular com-
petitors in an OHA intermediate
grouping while the Jets are
playing exhibition games
whenever suitable opposition can
be found.
Friday's victory was the Jets
eleventh of the season in twelve
starts. The other game was in
Erie, Pennsylvania and ended in
a tie with the Erie Lions, a top
semi-pro club,
The Jets will be back in action
at the Huron Park arena, Friday
night at 8:30 when they take on
Jim Ball Sheet Metal of London, a
good calibre club.
Three members of the London
team have been in the Lucan,
Ilderton line-up last year or early
this season. They are Barry
Irwin, John Pirie and goalie
Harry Taylor.
In Simcoe Friday night the Jets
wasted little time in showing the
Simcoe fans they were out to keep
their unblembished record intact.
The L-I boys scored five times
in the first period before Larry
,
Crandall spoiled Lorne Daer'S
bid for a shut-out at the 15.27
mark.
Daer played in goal for the Jets
for the first period and gave up
further duties to Don Stewart
because of the hand injury.
Veteran forward Doug
Galloway was the only Jet to
score more than one goal, The big
right winger fired the second goal
of the game in the first period and
bounced back with a two goal
effort in the third frame to pick
up a hat trick,
Other goal getters for the
winner in the initial session came
from the sticks of playing coach
Jack Nairn, ' Walt Parkinson,
Jamie Robb and Steve Storey.
Scoring slowed down in the
second period with each team
scoring only once. Defenceman
Don "Silver Fox" Urbshott
notched the Jet marker on a good
skating effort.
Urbshott took a pass from Doug
Galloway just over centre ice and
waltzed in on the net and slid the
puck between the goalie's legs.
In the third period, Galloway
completed his scoring with two
successful shots while Ron
Cauduro, Jacques Cousineau and
Dick Doughty fired single goals.
Sharpshooters
remain on top
The Sharpshooters continue to
lead the standings in the Exeter
Legion mixed dart league with a
season point total of 42 points.
The B J's are in second spot with
40 points while the Doublers and
Dark Angels are deadlocked in
third place with 37 points apiece.
Competition is close in the
individual races. Larry Brintnell
has come up with a high score of
160 to lead the male darters while
Anita Hunter, Sue Edginton,
Annie Lawson and Barb Hearn
have identical scores of 140 best
in the ladies section.
In the number of games won,
Alex Jackson and Don Appleby
have each won 17 times. Duff
Rothbauer has 16 wins and Don
Wells is close behind with 15.
Etta Kopp has eleven wins to
head the ladies division. Barb
Hearn is next in line with ten
while Amanda Hamilton has nine
victories.
Friday's scores were:
Dark Angels 5 - Swimmers 0
B J's 4 - Late Niters 1
Doublers 4 - Noisy Ones 1
Dart Sharks 4 - Featherflights 1
B & A's 3 - Shiphunters 2
