Anderson, Dutch Christmas told to WI ElY MRS, RENA CALDINELL The December meeting of Kippen U.C.W. was held Thur- sday evening amidst a setting of Christmas decorations and' lighted tree. The theme of the worship, in S charge of Mrs. Laird Finlayson, was "Love is God's free gift." She said we yearn to share ourselves with another person, to enter into real communion with someone who understands and accepts us. Hope is such a small word, yet giant size which cannot really be explained but must be experienced. Christmas carols were sung throughout the wor- ship service. The incoming Mrs. Wm, Bell, president had charge of the business part of the meeting. It was decided to hold meetings on the fourth Wednesday of the month except the Christmas meeting. Mrs. Bell read a Christmas poem and a medley of Christmas music was sung, directed my Mrs. David Cooper. A humerous but meaningful skit, "Neighbours," was enacted by Mrs. Edison McLean, Mrs, John A. Cooper, Mrs. Wilfred Mellis, Mrs. Robert Turner and Mrs. David Turner, Mrs. McLean then read Harry Boyle's Chrisl,mas story from the Readers Digest. Numbers were drawn for a gift, Mrs. Keith Lovell being the lucky winner. Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Lovell gave courtesy Mrs. H. Hendrick. Personals Mr, & Mrs. Art Gibson, Wroxeter, spent Saturday with Mr. & Mrs. W.L. Mellis. Jean Ivison visited in London for a few days. Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Burke, Ansley, Ontario, visited Mr. & Mrs. W,L. Kenneth McLellan returned from a business trip to Toronto. Hensall Women's Institute held their Christmas meeting in the Legion Hall with president Mrs. J. McAllister in the chair. After welcoming the guests she gave a report on the district directors meeting. She told the ladies members may write a report of someone they consider to be a ACW view slides of cathedral The regular meeting of the A.C.W. was held December 9, at the home of Mrs, R. H. Mid- dleton. The president, Mrs. W, Scrabuik, opened the meeting with the members prayer. A devotional from the Living Message was read by Mrs, Mary Taylor, Rev. G. A. Anderson, and Mrs. Scrabuik, Mrs, Windover read a poem called "Christmas Eve." The business was conducted and a report on entertainment at the Queensway Nursing Home was given. Those helping this month are Mrs. Mary Taylor, Mrs, Annie Reid, Mr, and Mrs. Frank Forrest, Mrs. Fanny Clarke, Mrs. R, H. Middleton, Miss Olive Petty and Mrs. Windover. The roll call was answered by reading a verse from the Bible with the word "joy" in it, Mrs. Clarke gave the study called, "God Solves all Our Problems." Rev. Anderson showed slides of the Cathedral in Exeter, England, and closed the meeting with prayer. local personality, to be entered into the Tweedsrnuir Book. In charge of setting up the fair list for 1972, are Mrs. R. M, Peck, Mrs. A. Orr, Mrs, E. Riley, and Mrs. H. Corbett. Carol singing was led by Mrs. B. Beaton accompanied at the piano by Mrs. M. Sherritt, after which the Hensall 4-11 Club demonstrated gourmet dishes featuring dairy products. Taking part were Alma Oud and Willy Blom, Mrs. Ted Oud gave highlights of Christmas in Holland, then everyone told of their most amusing or memorable Christ- mas, after which a few poems were read. The January meeting will start with a tour through Boise Hensall personals Rev. W.D. Jarvis conducted communion service in Carmel Presbyterian Church Sunday delivering a message on "The Joy of Communion, Shelley Bonthron was received into membership of the church. The name of Mrs, Gordon Sch- walm was omitted from the slate of officers for Carmel Presbyterian Church last week. Mrs, Schwalm is the president. William R. Bell visited this week with his son and daughter- in-law, Mr, & Mrs, Wm. H. Bell. Mr. & Mrs, Robert Mickle London, and Charles Mickle, Hamilton, visited their parents Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle, Hen- sail. Cascade trailer plant, members to meet at the Legion Hall by .8:15 to arrange transportation. Program conveners were Mrs. C, Reid and Mrs. J. McAllister. Hostesses were Mrs. B. Beaton and Mrs. P. Koehler. Lady passes away in SH Hospital Myrtle M. Peart passed away in South Huron Hospital, December 9, 1971 in her 75th year. Surviving are some nieces and cousins. The funeral service was held from the Bonthron Funeral Chapel, Hensall, Saturday with Rev, W. Jarvis officiating. Burial was in Staffa Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Vivian, Lorne Elliot, Phillip James, and Lisle Warden, December 16, 1971 Page 7 Arnold circle present gifts The Christmas meeting of the Arnold Circle evening auxiliary of Carmel Presbyterian church was held at the home of Mrs. Roy G. Bell Monday evening. The worship was a series of stories, most of them true that told true meaning of Christmas. These were by Mrs. John Baker and Mrs. Joanne Bell. It was agreed the Arnold Circle would provide assistance for the Sunday School's adopted child. Arrangements were made to continue with secret sunshine pals. Mrs. R, Vanstone thanked everyone who helped at the bazaar and tea and stamps sent to the London Bible Society were credited to Arnold Circle.
